*Minus 10°C In Gulmarg, Dry Weather Forecast In J&K*

Srinagar, Feb 9 (GNS): Barring Pahalgam, night temperatures recorded a drop in Jammu and Kashmir with Gulmarg recording a low of minus 10°C on Wednesday, officials said. The weatherman has forecast light rain in the next 24 hours and dry weather for the subsequent two days.

A meteorological department official here told GNS Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K, had traces of rainfall during the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today and recorded a low of 0.6°C against last night’s 1.4°C, he said.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, had 0.2mm rain while it recorded a low of minus 0.3°C against 0.3°C on the previous night, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, had a low of minus 2.5°C against minus 0.5°C on the previous night, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, received 4.9cms of fresh snowfall and recorded a low of minus 5.1°C against minus 6.2°C last night, he said.

Gulmarg received 4.8cms of snow and recorded a low of minus 10°C against minus 9.0°C on the previous night, he said.

The temperature was 3.3°C below normal for this time of the year in the famous resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir, which received 0.4mm of rain, recorded a low of minus 1.3°C against 1.7°C on the previous night, the official said.

While the ‘Chillai Kalan’, the 40-day long harshest period of winter ended on January 30, Kashmir is under the grip of the 20-day long ‘Chillai Khurd’ which would be followed by 10-day-long ‘Chilla Bachha’.

Jammu recorded a low of 8.8°C against previous night’s 8.7°C, the official said. The temperature was 0.7°C below normal for the J&K’s winter capital during this time of the year, he said.

Banihal recorded a low of 0.6°C, Batote had a minimum of 2.1°C while Bhaderwah recorded a low of minus 1.6 °C, the official said.

*Kupwara Police arrests 03 notorious drug peddlers , 37 gms Brown Sugar recovered*



Kupwara, Feb 09:Late in the evening on February 8,2022, Kupwara Police during a naka checking at Sharthpora crossing, Hyhama, has apprehended 03 notorious drugs peddlers namely Majid Rehman son of Ab Rehman Khan resident of Gundisana Hyhama, Nisar Ahmad Mir son of Zia Mir resident of Kanthpora and Atta Mohd Khan son of Jahangir Ahmad a resident of Halmatpora and recovered about 37 gms of Brown sugar like substance from their possession. It was a routine naka of Police Station Kupwara laid by SHO Mohd Rafiq under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Rashad Younis , when the trio was seen suspiciously moving in the area. On being inquired and searched, recovery of narcotics was made from them.

Police has taken cognisance of the matter and FIR No.26/22, u/s 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Kupwara and investigation taken up. Some more arrests can not be ruled out in the case in the coming days in the case .

Kupwara Police appeals the general public to cooperate in sharing the information related to drug abuse so that appropriate steps can be initiated and a drug free environment is created.

Kulgam, Feb 08 (KNO): A 35-year-old woman from South Kashmir's Kulgam died after she was allegedly continuously kept on high flow oxygen.

Journalist Tariq Yousuf working with a local agency, who is brother of deceased told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that when his sister went to private clinic at Kulgam for routine check-up on 6th February at around 05:00 am the doctors at the clinic advised to her to go hospital for oxygen support for sometime as her oxygen level was around 80.

"My sister first visited the private clinic where a doctor told her you are fine and just your oxygen level is little bit low and visit hospital," he said.

However, she has continuously been kept on high flow oxygen for hours together due to which her lungs got damaged and subsequently died, he said.

He further added that her sister repeatedly requested doctors not to keep her on high flow oxygen as she is facing some issues with it despite that she was continuously kept on high flow oxygen and till her death she was kept on oxygen support.

He requested authorities that matter must be investigated at an earliest and strict action must be taken against the staff members involved in the alleged medical negligence.

The lady namely Sholi Jan, daughter of Mohammad Yousuf Khanday of Soppar Kulgam died at District hospital on Monday.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam Dr. Muzzafar Zargar told KNO that patient was suffering from Myotonia and they are going to enquire the matter and statement of concerned doctor will be recorded too—(KNO)

Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNO): Top officials of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Tuesday said that it will likely announce annual regular results of 12th standard in few hours.

The official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the results are mostly likely to be announced in 2-3 hours.

“We are planning to announce the result in 2–3 hours and in case it would be delayed, the results would be announced by tomorrow morning,” the official said.

The official also requested the students to check their results from the official website of JKBOSE—(KNO)

Srinagar, Jan 7 (GNS): Famous resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam received fresh snowfall while rains lashed plains in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K, had 0.8mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today and recorded a low of 2.2°C against last night’s 2.8°C, he said.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, had no rain or snowfall and recorded a low of 0.6°C against 1.2°C on the previous night, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, had a low of minus 1.3°C against 0.1°C on the previous night, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, received 11.3 cms (around 4.5 inches) of fresh snowfall and recorded a low of minus 0.5°C against minus 3.7°C last night, he said.

Gulmarg received 14 cms (5.5 inches) of snow and recorded a low of minus 5.0°C against minus 7.5°C on the previous night, he said.

The temperature was 0.7°C below normal for this time of the year in the famous resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.

Kupwara town in north Kashmir, which received 6.9mm of rain, recorded a low of 0.7°C against 1.1°C on the previous night, the official said.
