Srinagar, Oct 7 (GNS): One person was killed in firing by paramilitary CRPF after a vehicle driver “failed to stop” despite signal in Anantnag district on Thursday evening, officials said. Official sources told GNS personnel of 40 BN CRPF had laid a naka at Monghall Bridge this evening. “A silver colour scorpio vehicle was asked to stop but did not do so following which CRPF men fired & one person was killed,” they said. A police officer while confirming the death of the person told GNS that his identity and credentials are being ascertained. (GNS)

A massive blaze has broken out in Parimpora locality, adjacent to Fruit Mandi, engulfing several residential houses. Reports reaching GNS said that the blaze broke out this afternoon and soon after engulfed several residential houses besides few other structures. Unknown gunmen on Thursday shot dead principal of a school and a woman teacher in Safa Kadal area of Srinagar, official sources said. They said the gunmen, suspected to be militants, fired upon the duo—Satinder Kour and Deepak Kour , both residents of Alochibagh here— at Safa Kadal, leaving them critically injured. They were shifted to SKIMS hospital where they were declared brought dead on arrival, the officials told GNS. The latest incident comes a day after three civilians including owner of Bindroo Medicate was shot dead in Srinagar and Bandipora. (GNS)

Border Security Forces(BSF) Thursday said that it foiled a major weapon smuggling bid in Samba Sector of Jammu and recovered a huge cahe of arms. A BSF spokesman told news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the BSF foiled a weapon smuggling attempt from across the International Border in Samba area and seized a big cache of Arms and Ammunition. "The seizure include 04 Pistols, 08 Pistol magazines and 232 rounds," he said. (KNO)
