SSP Ganderbal held meeting with transporters & other stakeholders in order to prevent heavy congestion/traffic jam in the district

Ganderbal : In order to prevent heavy congestion/ traffic jam in Ganderbal town especially during peak hours, a review meeting and field visit was conducted by SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta-IPS accompanied by DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, in which Transport Department, Traffic Police and Representative of Mini-Bus Association & other Stakeholders participated.

During the meeting, SSP Ganderbal took review of traffic management on ground especially in the main town Ganderbal. After getting the proper feedback from the stakeholders & Traffic Police, SSP Ganderbal directed all the associations of transporters to board and de-board the passengers at designated bus stops only so to avoid heavy traffic jam in the district.

Moreover, SSP Ganderbal urged to all the stake holders to implement the guidelines of Traffic Police in order to ease out the traffic congestion in the town. J&K Police also requests general public to follow the guidelines of traffic management & District Police Ganderbal.```

Police booked a terrorist associate under PSA & 04 notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act

Srinagar : After receiving formal detention orders from the competent authority, Police booked a terrorist associate linked with proscribed terror outift LeT under PSA & four notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore & Handwara.

The terrorist associate namely Ahsan Ul Haq Khanday son of Nazir Ahmad Khanday resident of Nowpora Kalan Sopore has been booked under PSA while as three notorious drug smugglers namely Barkat Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar resident of Shair Colony Sopore, Umar Bashir Zargar son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar resident of Behrampora Rafiabad and Musaib Bashir Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone resident of Wadoora Payeen Sopore have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore. The booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu.

Meanwhile, Police in Handwara booked a notorious drug peddler Aijaz Ahamd Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Kralgund Qaziabad under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention order from the competent authority. The booked drug peddler has been detained and subsequently lodged in jail.

Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the said drug peddlers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to the local youth. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend his activities.

Jammu & Kashmir Police arrested bootlegger, recovered 112 bottles of illicit liquor

Jammu : In a continued effort to combat drugs and illicit liquor, the Jammu Police have achieved another significant success. Today, a team led by the SHO of the Bus Stand Police Station, under the supervision of SP City North and SDPO City North Jammu, apprehended two notorious bootleggers.

The individuals arrested have been identified as Vikas Kumar, son of Chaman Lal from Rajouri, and Shubam Mehra, son of Sham Lal from Gorkha Nagar, Jammu. During the operation, the police recovered 112 bottles of JK Whiskey from their possession.

A case has been registered against the accused under FIR No. 25/2024, Section 48-A of the Excise Act at the Bus Stand Police Station. The investigation is now underway to uncover further details and potential connections.

This operation underscores the Jammu Police's unwavering commitment to eradicating drug and liquor-related crimes in the region, ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.

Bodies of two youths who tragically drowned in Kishanpur-Manwal area of District Jammu have been fished out from River Tawi

Jammu : On 17-05-2024,following the receipt of this information at Police Post Manwal a search and rescue operation was launched by JKP,SDRF & NDRF.

One body of Rajinder Singh R/O Kishanpur Manwal was recovered yesterday from the Tawi River but search and rescue operations continued to locate the second missing youth.

In addition to JKP, SDRF, and NDRF, the 09 Para unit of army has also joined the search and rescue operation today in the Tawi River & 2nd dead body of Abhikash Singh S/O Ranjeet Singh R/O Kishanpur Manwal was recovered today bringing the total number of deceased to two. Inquest proceedings initiated to ascertain the cause of death.

Kulgam Police arrested drug peddler; Contraband substance recovered

Kulgam : Kulgam Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Qaimoh headed by SHO Police station Qaimoh during checking at a checkpoint established at Wanpora, crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party, He was chased and apprehended tactfully. After search, *100 grams of Charas* like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as *Sartaj Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Muqdampora, Qaimoh*.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 48/2024 under section 8/20 NDPS act has been registered in Police Station Qaimoh and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

05 Bovine smuggling bids foiled, 44 bovines rescued, 05 vehicles seized by JKP in Sub- Division Nagrota in District Jammu.

Jammu : Jammu & Kashmir Policein Jammu District continuing its crackdown against against bovine smugglers under operation *Kamadhenu* ,Police team of Police Station Nagrota foiled 03 bovine smuggling bid, rescued 23 bovines and seized 03 vehicle (1) Truck bearing registration No.JK14A/5419, and (2)JK02AH/9585 from Tawi bridge Sidhra and driver of vehicles fled away from the spot by taking advantage of darkness.One more vehicle Truck bearing registration No Jk02AJ/9017 seized from Ban Toll Plaza. Accused driver namely Mohd Shabir S/O Ghulam Rasool R/O Kans Khassan Reasi was arrested on spot.

Moreover, 02 more bovine smuggling bid foiled by PS Jhajjar Kotli rescued 21 bovines and seized 02 (1) Truck bearing registration No.JK02AU/4456 and (2)JK20A/7240 which was going from Jammu towards Udhampur driver of vehicles fled away from the spot after taking advantage of darkness.
