Srinagar, Oct 4: In a bid to combat the growing menace of drug addiction and to spread awareness among the youth, the Cultural Unit Srinagar of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), J&K, organized a gripping Nukkad Natak (street play) under the banner of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan at New Genius Public High School, Nawab Bazar, Srinagar.
The highlight of the event was a powerful street play performed by the renowned artists of Angel’s Cultural Academy, which struck an emotional chord with the audience. The performance portrayed the dark reality of substance abuse and its destructive impact on families and society, while also inspiring hope and a call to action.
The performance featured Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shera, G.M. Bujjal, Sahil Bashir, Zubaida Ali, and Amir Hussain, whose engaging acting and impactful storytelling received a thunderous applause from students, faculty, and locals.
Speaking on the occasion, the artists emphasized the urgent need for community participation in eradicating drug addiction and promoting a healthy, positive lifestyle. The event also aimed to educate young minds about the consequences of drug abuse and to motivate them to become ambassadors of change in their respective areas.
The initiative is part of a series of awareness programs being held across the Valley under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, with the objective of creating a drug-free and healthier Jammu & Kashmir.
Such cultural initiatives not only entertain but also enlighten, leaving a lasting impact on the audience — especially the youth — who are the torchbearers of tomorrow.
