Kunzer Education Row Deepens as Former DDC Alleges Abuse of Authority and Political Vendetta
Kunzer: Former DDC Tangmarg Mir Ishfaq Tajamul has strongly criticised the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Kunzer, accusing him of misusing official powers and running a “parallel department” within the education system.
The criticism comes days after new Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) were appointed for Kunzer and Tangmarg zones through official government orders. Reacting to the recent developments, Mir Ashfaq claimed that certain officials were “panicking” after the appointments and had started allegedly misusing their authority.
In a detailed public post, Mir Ishfaq alleged that the Principal had illegally relieved and attached a teacher without possessing the required administrative powers. He termed the move a “clear misuse of authority” and questioned how a Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) could issue such orders despite having powers limited only to financial and salary-related matters.
He further alleged that several unauthorised transfers were carried out during the officer’s tenure as Incharge ZEO and demanded an independent inquiry into the matter. Mir Ashfaq also accused the officer of targeting teachers for political and personal reasons instead of focusing on academic welfare.
The former DDC appealed to higher authorities, including the Chief Education Officer Baramulla and Director School Education Kashmir, to investigate the allegations and ensure that the education department functions under the “Rule of Law and not personal influence.”
The issue has triggered discussions within the teaching community of Kunzer and Tangmarg, with several teachers demanding transparency and accountability in administrative decisions.
