Meet Chef Zahoor – The Man Behind the Rise of Kashmiri Cuisine in Pune, Maharashtra.

Pune, Nov 30: Zahoor Ahmad Mir, popularly known as Chef Zahoor, hails from the small village of Bernate in Tehsil Boniyar. His journey in the culinary world began more than a decade ago when he started working as an assistant chef in various hotels and restaurants across different cities in India. With determination, hard work, and an unwavering passion for food, he gradually paved his way toward building a brand of his own.

Despite his passion, Zahoor faced numerous challenges on his path to entrepreneurship. Starting a business in a bustling metropolitan city like Pune is far from easy, especially for someone coming from a remote village. Yet his commitment and belief in Kashmiri cuisine pushed him forward. His dream finally took shape when he launched his restaurant Chinar With Love From Kashmir in Pune, one of India’s rapidly growing urban hubs.

Chinar quickly gained recognition for serving authentic Kashmiri cuisine, especially the world famous Wazwan. What began as a single outlet soon expanded its reach, attracting food lovers not only from Pune but also from Mumbai. The restaurant has now become a beloved destination for non-vegetarian enthusiasts in Maharashtra who seek the rich flavours of traditional Kashmiri dishes.

From starting his career as an employee to becoming a successful restaurateur, Zahoor’s journey stands as a testament to perseverance. Today, he is not only running a thriving business but is also providing employment opportunities to numerous unemployed youth from his village who have joined him in Pune. His success story is inspiring many young people across Kashmir who aspire to build their own ventures in different parts of the country.

For a middle class boy from a remote village in Baramulla to run a successful restaurant in Pune and to have new outlets in the pipeline for Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Delhi is nothing short of extraordinary. Chef Zahoor’s story reflects the spirit of hard work, ambition, and resilience. He has become a role model for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, proving that with dedication and a clear vision, one can achieve remarkable success anywhere in the world.

“Humanity is alive”: Kashmir-based businessman offers one kanal of prized land to Kuldeep Sharma for his generous act

KNO Special Correspondent

Srinagar, Nov 29 (KNO): Moved by the act of generosity of Kuldeep Sharma, who offered five marlas of land to Arfaz Daing- a Jammu-based journalist whose house was demolished by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) on Thursday- a Kashmiri businessman has come forward with an even bigger offer as a reciprocation of Sharma’s gesture.

The 46-year-old businessman, who does not want to be named, has offered a prized piece of land valued at around Rs one crore to Sharma as recognition of his philanthropic gesture. “I was moved by his gesture. At a time when people are fighting in the name of caste, creed, colour, and religion, Kuldeep Sharma has proved that humanity is alive,” said the businessman, who hails from Pampore town in South Kashmir, while speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

The businessman said he has already spoken to Sharma about his offer. “I spoke to him over the phone in the morning, and the moment I made the offer, he broke down in tears,” he recalled. “He told me he is not a rich man, yet he would do everything in his capacity to help Arfaz rebuild his home.”

He added that he is planning to visit Sharma’s house in the coming days to formally offer him the land. “Not just land, I am ready to give my blood to Sharma. I cannot believe such humans exist on this earth. He rose above religious lines to help a Muslim man,” the businessman said emotionally.

Moved by viral images of Arfaz’s elderly parents pleading with authorities and his young children watching helplessly, Kuldeep Raj Sharma had offered five marlas of his land to Arfaz on Friday for rebuilding the house razed to debris by the JDA.

“They demolished his home on three marlas of land, so I gifted him five marlas. If they demolish this one too, I will give him ten marlas. Even if I have to beg, I will rebuild his home. He is my brother, not a stranger,” Sharma was quoted as saying.

The demolition of Arfaz Daing’s house has become a major issue in Jammu and Kashmir, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah claiming that the demolition drive was carried out without the approval of the elected government—(KNO)
