Man critically injured after falling from walnut tree in Kreeri, shifted to GMC Baramulla

BARAMULLA: A man sustained critical injuries after falling from a walnut tree in the Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The injured has been identified as Sharief-ud-Din Zargar, a resident of Kreeri.
According to reports, Zargar was harvesting walnuts when he lost his footing and fell from a walnut tree. He was immediately evacuated by family and locals to a nearby hospital in Kreeri for initial medical attention.
Given the severity of his injuries, attending doctors referred him to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Baramulla, for specialized treatment.

No One Is Above the Law: Gagandeep Singh Warns Against Corruption and Land Mafia in Srinagar

Srinagar: Bollywood actor and minority leader Gagandeep Singh has raised serious concerns over alleged corruption, misuse of authority, and harassment of citizens in Srinagar.

Singh said that during his recent observations, he came across cases where people reportedly possessed the necessary permissions and documents for their work, including building-related permissions, yet were allegedly being prevented from proceeding.

While referring to certain issues involving the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Singh clarified that his concerns are not limited to any particular department or officer.

He also issued a strong warning regarding allegations of illegal land grabbing and activities associated with land mafias in Srinagar.

“I will not spare anyone involved in illegal land grabbing or land mafia activities. Whoever is found to be involved will have to face the law. I will pursue these matters through the appropriate legal and administrative authorities until accountability is established,” Singh said.

Singh emphasized that he does not want to make allegations against any individual without evidence, but said that anyone found guilty after a proper investigation should face action according to law.

“Whether it is an IAS officer, a government official, a land mafia operator, or anyone else, nobody is above the Constitution and the law. The law must be equal for everyone,” he stated.

He added that his objective is not to target any particular person or department, but to ensure transparency, accountability, and justice for ordinary citizens.

“I am against corruption, injustice, and misuse of power. Whoever is genuinely guilty will not be allowed to escape accountability. I will continue to raise these issues through the proper legal channels,” Singh added.

Bar Association Baramulla, in collaboration with the University of Kashmir’s North Campus, organised a Youth Parliament Programme 2026 at the University of Kashmir North Campus, aimed at encouraging students to develop leadership, debating and public-speaking skills.

Rajya Sabha MP Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan was the chief guest, while GOC 19 Infantry Division Major General Manish Joshi attended as the guest of honour. MLA Baramulla and MLA Wagoora-Kreeri, along with senior advocates, students and other guests, also participated in the programme.
