Massive Flight Disruptions Hit IndiGo as ATC Glitch at Delhi Airport Causes Nationwide Delays

New Delhi/Srinagar, November 7, 2025 — Air travel across India has been thrown into chaos today after a major technical glitch struck the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), grounding and delaying hundreds of flights operated by IndiGo and other airlines.

The Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), a crucial network that manages flight plan processing and ATC communications, failed early Friday morning. The breakdown has forced air traffic controllers to process flight plans manually, leading to massive delays and a cascading impact on airports nationwide — including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Srinagar.

At Srinagar Airport, hundreds of passengers were left stranded for hours as connecting IndiGo flights through Delhi faced cancellations and rescheduling. Many expressed deep frustration over the chaos and lack of clarity from airline staff.

One passenger, Mr. Zakir Ellahi from Srinagar, who was traveling to Doha, Qatar, via Delhi on an IndiGo connection, described it as his “worst ever travel experience.”

> “This is the worst experience I’ve ever faced. My flight was delayed for hours, and now my luggage is missing too. There’s no proper information or help,” said Mr. Ellahi, visibly upset.

IndiGo has acknowledged the disruption, stating that it is coordinating closely with airport authorities to manage the situation. “Passengers are requested to check their flight status before heading to the airport,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.

As of Friday evening, delays continue to ripple across multiple airports. Authorities have assured that technical teams are working round-the-clock to restore the AMSS system and resume normal flight operations as soon as possible.

Supreme Court Orders Fencing of Public Spaces to Curb Stray Dog Menace

New Delhi, November 7: A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and N.V. Anjaria, while hearing the suo motu case on stray dog management across the country, has directed that all educational institutions, hospitals, public sports complexes, bus stands, and railway stations must be properly fenced to prevent the entry of stray dogs.

The Supreme Court emphasized that such preventive measures are necessary to ensure public safety and hygiene, particularly in spaces frequented by large numbers of people. The Bench noted that authorities must act swiftly to implement the fencing and ensure maintenance to avoid recurring incidents of dog attacks and disturbances.

The suo motu proceedings were initiated to address the growing concerns over stray dog attacks and the lack of a uniform national policy on their management. The Court is expected to issue further directions to civic bodies and state authorities in the coming hearings.

*Waheed Para Slams Fresh Social Media Monitoring Orders*
*Questions Chief Minister's Silence on “Selective Restrictions''*

Srinagar, Nov 5 (CNS) MLA Pulwama and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senior leader Waheed ur Rehman Para has strongly criticised the government's fresh orders to monitor and restrict social media activity in Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a betrayal of the promises made during the recent elections.

In a sharp statement posted on social media, Para said that the election in Jammu & Kashmir was fought to“end silence, fear, and suffocation.”He asserted that people “didn't vote for control, they voted for dignity and the right to speak without fear.”
He reminded that one of the loudest campaign promises was to scrap the media and social media gag policy, yet new directives to restrict online activity are now being issued“selectively only in Jammu & Kashmir, nowhere else in India.”

“What is the Chief Minister's stand on this? What does the , who also holds the Information portfolio, have to say?” Para questioned.
The PDP legislator said that using“vigilance and monitoring”as a pretext to intimidate journalists and police public expression “exposes a deeply disturbing intent to control narratives, muzzle truth, and drag J&K further into surveillance.”
"Jammu & Kashmir deserves openness, not oppression; transparency, not targeting,”Para added, asserting that “this election was fought to restore trust and dignity, not to replace one silence with another''
