PDF President calls for transparent, time bound probe into Tral youth’s mysterious death

Extends heartfelt condolences; says justice must prevail and truth must not be buried

Srinagar, June 24:
President of the People's Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, has expressed deep sorrow and serious concern over the tragic and mysterious death of a young man from Dharamgund, Tral, who was found hanging from a tree near his village.

The incident has shocked the local Sikh community and raised troubling questions that warrant an urgent, impartial, and transparent investigation.

Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen described the death as a deeply disturbing incident that goes beyond personal grief and touches on issues of wider public concern.

“We share the pain of the grieving family and stand in complete solidarity with them. This tragic loss must not be brushed aside it calls for a thorough and credible inquiry,” he said.

He emphasized that the circumstances surrounding the death raise serious and legitimate doubts which must be addressed without delay.

“We demand a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation. The people deserve the truth, and any attempt to suppress facts or mislead the public will not be tolerated,” Yaseen stated.

The PDF President confirmed that he has personally spoken with senior police officials, who have assured him that the matter is being handled with due seriousness.

He was informed that a postmortem has been conducted and the case referred to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed analysis.

“We will be following the progress of the investigation closely and ensure that no aspect is overlooked,” Yaseen added.

“Justice must not only be done, but it must be seen to be done. The administration will be held accountable to the promises it has made.”

Urging the public to maintain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing the matter until its logical conclusion.

Hakeem assured the bereaved family of his unwavering support and vowed to continue raising the issue until justice is delivered in full.

Cyber Police Arrest Terminated Professor and Journalist in Objectionable Content Case

Srinagar, May 22: Cyber Police Srinagar today arrested Dr. Abdul Waseem, alias Bari, a terminated professor from Kulgam currently residing in Natipora, and journalist Asifa Bashir of Chattabal, for allegedly uploading and disseminating objectionable content on social media.

The arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 06/2025 under Sections 67 and 67-A of the IT Act, and Sections 75(3), 79, and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Dr. Waseem has been handed over to Police Station Shergari, while Asifa Bashir has been sent to the Women’s Police Station Rambagh for further investigation.
