J&K Assembly Session to Begin on October 23 After Cabinet Revises Dates

THE TYPEWRITER || SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has issued formal orders summoning the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to convene in Srinagar on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

The announcement comes after the Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, revised its earlier recommendation regarding the autumn session. Initially, the Cabinet had proposed the session to begin on October 13 and continue for around a week, concluding on October 20.

Following consultations with the Speaker of the Assembly, the Cabinet decided to shift the commencement to October 23. The change aims to provide adequate time for the submission and scrutiny of questions, bills, and resolutions by the Assembly Secretariat.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is summoned to meet on October 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in exercise of powers under Section 18 (1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019,” stated the official order issued by the Lieutenant Governor.

All members of the Assembly have been requested to make the necessary arrangements to attend the sitting on the revised date.
