Youth Dies After Scooter Collides with Tree in Kangan

GANDERBAL: A 19-year-old youth died after his scooter met with an accident in the Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday evening.

Officals told KNC, the youth identified as Mohammad Sami, son of Akbar Ali, resident of Kangan, was brought to SKIMS Soura in an unconscious condition after his scooter lost balance and hit a tree near Sultanpora Kangan.

They said the injured had suffered severe head trauma and was declared brought dead by doctors upon arrival at the hospital.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.

Harmukh Tourist Taxi Stand Naranag Inaugurated, A Great Initiative in the Far-Flung Area

Naranag, 26th October 2025:
In a remarkable step to boost tourism and connectivity in the upper reaches of Ganderbal, the Harmukh Tourist Taxi Stand Naranag was inaugurated today in a vibrant ceremony attended by locals, dignitaries, and tourism stakeholders.

The initiative has been spearheaded by President Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Vice President Sajad Ahmad Kasana, and General Secretary Tariq Kasana, with the aim of providing dedicated taxi services from Naranag to all major tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir.

The inauguration was graced by SHO Kangan Riyaz Ahmad, DDC Member Mian Amjad, and other prominent participants who hailed the launch as a great initiative in a far-flung area, reflecting the community’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and local employment.

Speaking at the event, the dignitaries praised the efforts of the taxi stand leadership for taking a visionary step that will benefit both tourists and local residents. They noted that the move will help in enhancing accessibility, supporting local drivers, and showcasing the scenic beauty and heritage of Naranag and Harmukh region.

The people of Naranag expressed gratitude and optimism, viewing the establishment of the taxi stand as a symbol of progress, unity, and opportunity for the remote mountain community.
