Himachal brothers marry one woman, embrace Hatti tradition of polyandry; netizens find ‘origins from Mahabharata’

Brothers Pradeep and Kapil Negi from Himachal's Shillai village married the same woman named Sunita Chauhan, while embracing the tribal tradition of polyandry. Their videos have quickly gained widespread attention from social media. Netizens have found its origins from Mahabharata.

The trio stated there was no pressure on them when they finalised their decision. Traditional folk songs and dances brought vibrant energy to the ceremony, which started on July 12 and continued for three days in the Trans-Giri region of Sirmaur district.

Originating from Kunhat village, Sunita expressed that she knew about the tradition beforehand and made her choice freely, highlighting her respect for the connection they share.

Pradeep, a native of Shillai village, holds a government job, whereas his younger brother Kapil is employed abroad.

Although Kapil lives overseas, he said that through this marriage, “we're ensuring support, stability and love for our wife as a united family”, adding, “We've always believed in transparency.”

"We followed the tradition publicly as we are proud of it and it was a joint decision," PTI quoted Pradeep as saying.

Langhar Khana and Mehfil-e-Sama Organised to Mark Annual Urs of Rehman Dar Sahab (RA)

Srinagar, Jul 20: In a heartfelt tribute to the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Rehman Dar Sahab (RA), a Lannhgar Khana was organized by the NGO Ehsaas Foundation as as part of the observance of revered occasion. The event witnessed a large turnout of devotees who gathered to honor the saint’s spiritual legacy and teachings of love, humility, and devotion.

In the sunday, a soulful event Mehfil-e-Sama organized by the Khalqie Seshrang Rehman Dar Memorial Committee. The session saw participation from renowned Sufi artists and qawwals from across the region, filling the atmosphere with mystic verses and devotional rhythms. The session served as a spiritual retreat for attendees, drawing them closer to the divine message preached by Hazrat Rehman Dar (RA).

Both events were marked by deep reverence and communal harmony, reflecting the saint’s timeless message of unity and service to humanity. Organizers expressed gratitude to all volunteers and attendees for making the Urs a peaceful and spiritually uplifting occasion.

Vice Chairman Ehsaas Foundation Burhan Nazir on the occasion urged the people in general and attendees to the Urs in particular to create an atmosphere of love, unity and bonhomie. "The people created division on the lines of sects or schools of thought, should be named and shamed," said Burhan, remarking further that people involved in such things are doing a great disservice to Islam and this saintly place known for its ethos built on love and compassion.

Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince’ Alwaleed bin Khaled passes away after 20-year coma

Riyadh July 20:Prince Khaled bin Talal has announced the passing of his son, Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal, following nearly two decades in a coma after a severe traffic accident in London in 2005.

As per the report published in Saudi Gazette, Prince Khaled stated that funeral prayers for his son will be held on Sunday at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, following Asr prayer.

Known widely as “The Sleeping Prince,” Prince Alwaleed fell into a complete coma after the accident during his studies in the UK.

He remained under close medical supervision for almost 20 years, never regaining consciousness despite brief episodes of limited movement that offered fleeting moments of hope.

Throughout this period, Prince Khaled firmly resisted removing life support, expressing unwavering faith that life and death rest solely in God’s hands.

His son’s condition attracted immense sympathy across the Kingdom and beyond, with millions closely following his story over the years.

Prince Alwaleed’s prolonged medical struggle came to an end with the announcement of his death on Saturday, closing a chapter that deeply touched the hearts of many.(RK)
