J&K is Neither Bangladesh nor Nepal; No space for violence in PM Modi's strong India: Altaf Thakur
Says NC Can't Mislead People of J&K on Hollow Slogans Anymore, Slams Omar Abdullah, says time of false promises is over
Srinagar, Sept 30: In a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC) and its leader, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, BJP Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Altaf Thakur today said that J&K is neither Bangladesh nor Nepal and cannot be provoked on the basis of hollow slogans and outdated narratives.
Thakur accused the NC leadership of exploiting the sentiments of the people since 1947 by raising false slogans of plebiscite and autonomy,while never delivering anything concrete on the ground. “NC has built its entire politics on deception and betrayal. For decades they fooled the people with fake promises, pocketed power, and abandoned the common Kashmiri in times of need. That politics of deceit is over now,” Thakur said.
He reminded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have already made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir will get back its statehood, and therefore there is no scope for politics over the issue. “When the country’s leadership has given its word, it will be fulfilled at the right time. BJP doesn’t indulge in lies and falsehood like NC. We make promises that we can and do deliver,” Thakur added.
Highlighting the BJP government’s welfare measures, Thakur said that the focus should be now on governance. “Where is free ration to poor families, 12 subsidised gas cylinders for every household, and 200 units of free electricity are promises?,” he asked.
He further lambasted Omar Abdullah for trying to revive divisive politics at a time when peace, development, and progress are shaping the new Jammu and Kashmir under Modi’s leadership. “People have rejected NC’s politics of provocation. Kashmir today aspires for jobs, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and tourism growth — not for empty slogans of restoration of Statehood which stands promised already,” Thakur said.
Warning NC against attempting to mislead people, the BJP spokesman concluded, “Gone are the days when NC could thrive on confusion and exploitation. The new Jammu and Kashmir under PM Modi belongs to peace, prosperity, and progress — not to dynastic politics and fake slogans. Omar Abdullah should stop daydreaming and face the reality of changing Kashmir.” The BJP leader said that nobody will be allowed to destablise the peaceful situation in Kashmir no matter how influential the persons would be. He said whosoever tries to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir will be dealt with strongly as per the law.
