Sopore Police Martyrs Memorial T-20 knockout cricket tournament inaugurated

Police in Sopore inaugurated T-20 cricket tournament under the banner “Sopore Police Martyrs Memorial T-20 Knockout Cricket Tournament” at Eden Park MET Ground in Sopore. The tournament was inaugurated by DIG Police NKR Baramulla, Shri Maqsood ul Zaman-IPS, alongwith SP Sopore, Smt. Divya D-IPS. The tournament features 32 participating teams, showcasing their cricketing talent and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participants.

DIG NKR Baramulla, in his address, encouraged the players to demonstrate their skills and uphold the values of discipline and teamwork. He highlighted the importance of such events in promoting unity and brotherhood among the youth. The tournament, organized as a tribute to the brave martyrs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, aims to honor their sacrifice and foster a sense of community and social responsibility. It provides a platform for young people to engage in healthy competition while remembering those who have given their lives in the line of duty.

The inaugural match saw Lala Blues Sopore face off against Seer Eleven. Winning the toss, Lala Blues Sopore choose to field first, inviting Seer Eleven to bat who fixed the target of 170 runs in allotted overs with Lone Momin 66 runs from 36 balls and Khalid 52 of 34 balls remained top scorer for the Seer Eleven.

Chasing the target of 170 runs, Lala Blues Sopore were restricted at 117/8 in their allotted overs, Lone Momin was declared man of the match for his brilliant innings of 66 runs and Lone Aabid remained top wicket taker for Seer Eleven with 3 overs 3 wickets.

The event was attended by other dignitaries, including ASP Sopore, Shri Mir Murtaza-JKPS, SDPO Sopore, Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, and DYSP PC Wadoora, Shri Khursheed Rasool, along with several other senior officers.```
