He is distinguished by his strong emotional expression and interaction with the text along with a careful selection of impactful poems that address the tragedy of Karbala and the values of sacrifice and patience. Furthermore he offers a variety of rhythmic lamentation styles that range between sorrowful and passionate tones.
Regarding his works he has produced hundreds of audio and video releases and many of his latmiyas have become widely known and commonly recited in Hussaini processions.
He became well known for his sorrowful and deeply moving style in performing elegies as well as his powerful voice that carries deep emotional expression especially during the nights of Ashura and the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein. Throughout his career he has held numerous gatherings inside Iraq and abroad in Gulf countries, Europe, and America and he maintains a wide audience from different ages.
Bassem Al-Karbalai is one of the most famous Hussaini reciters in Iraq and the Shia world and is considered one of the most prominent voices associated with Hussaini gatherings and the commemoration of Imam Hussein. His full name is Bassem Ismail Karbalai and he was born in the holy city of Karbala in 1966 where he began his journey in reciting Hussaini poems at an early age until his voice gained wide recognition during the 1990s.

يُعد السيد علي الحسيني الخامنئي شخصية دينية وسياسية إيرانية، ويشغل منصب المرشد الأعلى للجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية منذ عام 1989. وُلد في مدينة مشهد بإيران في 19 أبريل/ نيسان 1939.
​تلقى تعليمه في الحوزات العلمية، وشارك في النشاط الديني والسياسي قبل قيام الثورة الإيرانية عام 1979. وبعد الثورة، تولى عدداً من المسؤوليات الرسمية، من بينها رئاسة الجمهورية بين عامي 1981 و 1989.
​من أبرز مسؤولياته الإشراف العام على السياسات العليا للدولة وفق الدستور الإيراني، إضافة إلى دوره في تعيين عدد من كبار المسؤولين وقيادة القوات المسلحة ضمن الصلاحيات المنصوص عليها قانوناً.
​يُعد من الشخصيات الأكثر تأثيراً في الحياة السياسية والدينية في إيران، وترتبط قراراته ومواقفه بالعديد من القضايا الداخلية والخارجية، ما يجعل دوره محوراً مهماً في فهم المشهد الإيراني المعاصر.
