Kupwara police arrests drug peddlers at Dragmulla

Acting tough against the drug menace, Kupwara Police yet again arrests two more persons involved in drug trafficking.

Police Post Dragmulla, during its routine naka checking at Muqam Shah crossing, found two persons suspiciously fleeing from the naka point upon noticing the police personnel at the checkpoint. The two persons were swiftly nabbed, and a thorough personal search was conducted, leading to the recovery of a substantial amount of charas (cannabis)-like substance.

The two persons, upon questioning, revealed their names as Tariq Ahmad Khan S/O Ghulam Rasool Khan R/O Waterkhani and Mohd Irshad Khan S/O Mohd Khan R/O Hyhama Batpora.

Taking cognizance of the matter, FIR No. 212/25 has been registered at Police Station Kupwara U/S 8/20, 27A, and 29 NDPS Act.

Kupwara Police shall continue with the same momentum till the drug menace is wiped out from society. Public cooperation is solicited.

*ADC Kupwara visits Drugmulla, undertakes meticulous inspection of govt office, intersects with locals, students*

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms Ayushi Sudan , Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara Gulzar Ahmad Rather conducted a surprise inspection of various government offices in the Drugmulla Tehsil today.
The inspection covered several government Offices including the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Drugmulla, Tehsil Office Drugmulla, Block Development Office (BDO) Drugmulla, and Government Girls Middle School Bumhama.
During the visit, the ADC observed that a number of employees at the BDO Office were found unauthorisedly absent from duty.
The ADC expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Tehsil Office Drugmulla, NTPHC Drugmulla, and the Government Girls Middle School Bumhama. The ADC appreciated the commitment of staff at these offices and institutions.
At the Government Middle School Bumhama, he held an interactive session with the teaching staff and emphasized the need to strictly adhere to the online class schedule, urging teachers to follow it in letter and spirit to ensure uninterrupted learning for students.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining accountability and improving service delivery across all departments in kupwara district.

J&K Police Attaches Property of Pakistan-Based Militant Handler in Lolab, Kupwara

Kupwara, July 09,2025:

In a major crackdown on terror operatives and their support structures Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sogam Kupwara have seized properties belonging to a Pakistan-based Kashmiri militant handler and top commander of proscribed terror outfits Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JUM).

The action was taken against the accused Ghulam Rasool Shah alias Rafia Rasool Shah son of Abdul Jabbar Shah originally a resident of Peer Mohalla Chandigam Lolab. Shah, who is presently operating from across the border, has been actively involved in orchestrating and facilitating militant activities in the region for several years.

As part of the legal action 5 kanals and 3 marlas of land belonging to the accused at Peer Mohalla Chandigam were attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A]. The property attachment is linked to FIR No. 276/2022, registered at Police Station Kupwara, which includes charges under sections 120B, 121A, 122, 123 of IPC and sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, 39, and 40 of UA(P)A.

This decisive move is part of the broader strategy to dismantle the logistical, financial and operational networks of terror outfits and their cross-border handlers. The attachment of property is a strong message to those who continue to engage in or support anti-national activities from within or outside the country.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterate their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Kupwara police solves Hit and Run case. Accused arrested, Vehicle seized.

On 04/07/2025 Police Station Kupwara received information that unknown vehicle driven by Unknown Person hit one Pedestrian namely Farooq Ahmad Shah S/O Abdul Subhan Shah R/O Tikker Kupwara at Tikker critically injuring the said person and the driver alongwith the vehicle has fled away from the Spot. Accordingly, a Case FIR number 207/2025 under section 281, 125-A, BNS was registered in Police Station Kupwara and investigation was taken up.

The injured person succumbed to his injuries.

During investigation police team of Police station Kupwara put forth all the efforts to identify and arrest the person involved in the commission of the crime. Various suspects were summoned and questioned and technical analysis was also done with the help of FSL experts which led to some clues. Finally after lot of hard work, Police could identify and arrest the accused from Awoora area .

The arrested driver has been identified as Wasim Ajaz Khan S/O Gulab Khan R/O Awoora Kupwara and the vehicle ECCO Sports bearing registration number HR26CC- 2753 involved in the commission of offence has also been seized.
The hit and run case has been solved and the accused has been booked under sections 181, 125- A, 106 BNS

Locals of the area have hailed the efforts of Kupwara Police for cracking the hit and run case in a shortest time.
