CBC Organises Swachhata Outreach Programme at GHSS Gulab Bagh

24 September 2025, Srinagar:

The Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Field Office Srinagar, today organised a day-long Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Swachhata Mission LiFE and New Criminal Laws at Government Higher Secondary School, Gulab Bagh, Srinagar.

The programme aimed to raise awareness among students and the community about environmental protection, adoption of sustainable lifestyle practices, and the provisions of New Criminal Laws.

Resource persons from the Education Department, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), J&K Pollution Control Committee, Police, and other departments participated in the programme and spoke on the themes of the programme.

Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, underscored the importance of cleanliness, calling it a basic prerequisite for a healthy life. He urged participants to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices for overall well-being.

Chief Sanitation Officer, SMC, Mudasir Hussain Banday, highlighted the critical role of local bodies in waste disposal and segregation. He appealed to the audience to use resources judiciously and contribute actively towards environmental protection.

District Pollution Control Officer, J&K Pollution Control Committee, Fayaz Ahmad, emphasized the significance of greenery and clean surroundings. He detailed harmful lifestyle practices leading to pollution of water bodies and encouraged participants to embrace Swachhata.

Filed Publicity Officer, CBC Srinagar, Naseer Ahmad Rather, noted that such outreach programmes are conducted across Jammu and Kashmir to sensitize youth about sustainable practices. He reiterated CBCโ€™s commitment to spreading awareness on government welfare schemes through outreach activities and multimedia exhibitions.

Filed Publicity Officer, CBC Anantnag, Shahid Mohammad Lone, also highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and underlined the crucial role of CBC in field-level communication and awareness generation.

Station House Officer, Zakoora, Khurshid Ahmad, spoke on the New Criminal Laws, stressing that the new framework focuses more on welfare and reform rather than punishment. He urged the young audience to abide by the law and contribute to peace and progress.

As part of the programme, students enthusiastically participated in an open quiz, painting and drawing competition, and a debate competition. Winners were felicitated with certificates and mementoes. A Shramdaan activity and plantation drive were also conducted.

The programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge to maintain cleanliness and commit themselves to sustainable living practices.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Government of India, Srinagar, in collaboration with the District Administration Pulwama, today organised Vartalap - Media Workshop for journalists at Pulwama. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Basharat Qayoom (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering of media persons, Dr. Basharat Qayoom (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, underscored the value of media as a partner in development. He said, โ€œWorkshops like Vartalap not only enhance awareness about flagship government schemes but also provide a forum for meaningful dialogue between officials and the media fraternity. I appreciate PIB Srinagar for bringing this initiative to Pulwama and assure full support from the district administration, Dr. Qayoom added.

In his welcome address, Shri Qazi Salman (IIS), Director, PIB Srinagar, highlighted the importance of media workshops in strengthening information flow between government and the press. He said, โ€œVartalap is a unique platform that aims to bridge the gap between government departments and the media. Such interactions help in disseminating accurate information about government schemes and initiatives to the grassroots level. PIB Srinagar will continue to organise more such workshops in different districts in the future.โ€

The workshop featured four technical sessions covering different developmental domains. Dr. Mohd Ashraf Mir, Block Development Officer, Shadimarg, delivered a presentation on Rural Development: PMAY 2.0; Shri Rayees Ahmad Shapoo, Career Counseling Officer, spoke on Employment: Mission YUVA; Dr. Noor Ul Islam Wani, Agriculture Extension Officer, shared insights on Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP); while Shri Ghulam Qadir, District Financial Counsellor, Pulwama discussed Financial Inclusion Schemes including PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, and APY.

The event was attended by a large number of media persons from district Pulwama, who actively engaged with the speakers through Question and Answer sessions. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Majid Pandit, Media & Communication Officer, PIB Srinagar.

PIB Srinagar extended special thanks to Ms. Wajeeza, District Information Officer, Pulwama, for her support in successful coordination of the programme.

The Vartalap Media Workshop has been envisioned as a platform to build stronger connections between media and government, ensuring timely, transparent, and effective communication. With encouraging participation, PIB Srinagar affirmed that more such workshops will be organised across the Union Territory in the future.

Srinagar Police Organizes "Run for Unity" to Commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Srinagar, September 24, 2025 :

In a spirited celebration of national unity and patriotism, Srinagar Police organized a large-scale "Run for Unity" across juridictions of Police Stations Nishat, Batmaloo, Shaheedganj, Nowgam, Panthachowk, MR Ganj, Harwan, Rainawari, Sangam, Shalteng, Maisuma, Ahmadnagar, Bemina, Nowhatta in the District to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, revered as the Iron Man of India.

The event was held as a tribute to Sardar Patelโ€™s pivotal role in unifying the country post-Independence and his enduring legacy as a symbol of national integration.
The "Run for Unity" also served as a platform to encourage community engagement, particularly among the youth, in promoting the ideals of unity, discipline, and social harmony.

The run saw active participation from hundreds of students, teachers, civil society members, and local stakeholders, who gathered with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.
Various schools and colleges across Srinagar collaborated with the Police for this initiative, underlining the importance of educational institutions in fostering values of citizenship and unity among young minds.

Participants ran predetermined routes in their local areas, carrying banners, placards, and flags, creating an atmosphere charged with energy and national pride. Police officials, teachers, and community leaders flagged off the runs and interacted with participants throughout the event.

To recognize the effort and involvement of the participants, Srinagar Police distributed certificates of participation and provided refreshments. This gesture was met with appreciation and further strengthened the bond between law enforcement and the community.
