*Sopore Police Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Ecosystem; CASOs, Shop Inspections and Awareness Drives Conducted Across Police District Under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan*

Continuing its multi-pronged offensive against the drug menace under the ongoing *100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan,* Sopore Police carried out a series of coordinated enforcement, preventive, and community outreach activities across Police District Sopore aimed at curbing drug abuse, disrupting narcotics networks and promoting drug-free society.
As part of the awareness component of the campaign, *village-level awareness programmes were organized at Krankshivan, Gund Brath and Soin Sadnar, witnessing active participation from Lumberdars, Chowkidars, Panchayat members, and local residents.* Participants were sensitized about the health, social and economic consequences of drug abuse and apprised of the stringent legal provisions of the NDPS Act against drug peddlers and traffickers.
To strengthen enforcement efforts, *Anti-Narcotics CASOs were conducted in identified hotspot areas of Tujjar, Mumkak and Butpora to deter narcotics trafficking, enhance police presence and gather ground-level intelligence.*
Special checking drives were conducted around *Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore and Government High School Soin Sadnar, Rafiabad.* During the drive, *Bhat Tea Stall was found selling ci******es within 100 metres of an educational institution in violation of the provisions of the COTPA Act, 2003 and was accordingly challaned.*
*Further inspections were carried out within the 100-metre vicinity of schools and Sub-District Hospital Sopore to ensure compliance with COTPA provisions and maintain a tobacco-free and drug-free environment around sensitive institutions.*
Checking of shops and establishments around coaching centres falling within the jurisdiction of Police Post Fruit Mandi was also undertaken to prevent access of narcotic and intoxicating substances to students and other vulnerable sections of society.
In addition, Sopore Police conducted inspections of medical and chemist shops in Main Town Sopore. Sale records, prescription registers and stock registers of scheduled medicines were scrutinized to prevent diversion and misuse of psychotropic and habit-forming drugs. Proprietors were sensitized about the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and advised to strictly adhere to prescribed norms.
