Security Forces Strike Big in Kupwara Village, Foil Terrorist Supply Plot

Kupwara: Based on specific intelligence inputs provided by Military Intelligence, a joint operation was conducted by 160 Battalion (TA), 5 PARA, and Kralpora Police Station on the night of 27-28 July 2025 in Marsary, Chowkibal area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

During the operation, security forces raided the house of Wali Mohammad Mir and recovered a significant quantity of arms and ammunition, including, 1 AK-56 Rifle, 3 AK-56 Magazines, 17 UBGL Grenades and over 1000 rounds of AK ammunition.

An FIR (No. 53/2025) has been registered at Kralpora Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and Explosives Act.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched further investigations to uncover potential links to terrorist activities in the area. Security forces have intensified operations in the area to prevent any untoward incidents.

This successful operation highlights the continued efforts of security agencies to combat terrorism and maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

JKPC Names Sufi Tahir as Provincial President of Youth Wing

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) on Wednesday appointed young and dynamic leader, Sufi Tahir as the Provincial President of its Youth Wing for Kashmir. The announcement marks a notable shift in Tahir’s political career, as he recently parted ways with Engineer Rashid’s Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) to join Sajad Lone’s JKPC.

Sufi Tahir, known for his energetic leadership and grassroots connect, played a pivotal role in Engineer Rashid’s campaign during the recent Parliament elections. Sufi was one of the key figures mobilizing support for Rashid, who contested from Baramulla and secured a historic victory while being incarcerated in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. Tahir’s departure from AIP and subsequent joining of JKPC is seen as a major gain for Sajad Lone’s party, which has been actively consolidating its base in the Valley.

Speaking on the appointment, JKPC leadership expressed confidence in Tahir’s ability to galvanize the youth. “Sufi Tahir’s inclusion strengthens our vision for empowering the young generation of Jammu and Kashmir. His dedication and leadership qualities will undoubtedly inspire the youth to actively participate in the political process,” a senior party leader said.

Tahir, in his statement, thanked the party leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility and vowed to work tirelessly for the welfare of Kashmiri youth. “I am committed to representing the aspirations of our youth and ensuring their voices are heard at all levels. JKPC’s agenda of peace, development, and inclusive politics aligns with my vision for a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
