Langate, Aug,30: A grand farewell ceremony was organized at Sheikh-ul-Alam Environment Hall (SAEH) Handwara to honor the retirement of Ms. Fahmida Bano, an esteemed daughter of Langate and the distinguished former Headmistress of BHS Khaiepora. The event marked a tribute to her decades of service in the Department of Education, where she earned respect as a dedicated teacher, compassionate leader, and inspiring mentor.

The ceremony witnessed an overwhelming presence of teaching staff, students, and eminent personalities from the education fraternity. Among the dignitaries in attendance were Deputy Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, Mohd Rafiq Mir, and Education Planning Officer, Mohd Iqbal Shah.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy CEO Kupwara lauded Ms. Fahmida Bano’s remarkable contributions, describing her as a “humble and great teacher and officer” who led with wisdom, sincerity, and empathy. Colleagues, both past and present, fondly recalled her unwavering dedication, loyalty, and integrity, highlighting how her leadership uplifted educational standards, especially in Education Zones Langate and Handwara.

Mudasser Sikander Assumes Charge As BDO Tangdar with addtional charge BDO Teetwal Karnah

Kupwara, August 29 : Mudasser Sikander on Friday assumed charge as Block Development Officer Tangdar with Addtional charge of BDO Teetwal.

Mudasser Sikander, 2019 batch JKAS officer was also Block Development officer Breng (Kokernag) Anantnag.

After assumption of charge as BDO Tangdar, Mudasser chaired an introductory cm interactive session with the employees of Block Development OfficeTangdar and Teetwal.

He was briefed about the functioning of various sections of the department.

The BDO enjoined upon the officials to work in coordination and cooperation with special focus on developmental works.

Lets Follow Headlines Today Illicit Timber Seized in Joint Operation by Forest Division Langate and Handwara Police

Langate, Aug 28: In a decisive action against the menace of timber smuggling, the Forest Division Langate, with the active support of Handwara Police, seized a Tata Mobile vehicle loaded with illicit timber during night patrolling in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to official reports, the vehicle was found carrying seven timber logs, measuring 77 CFTs, illicitly felled from Compartment No. 43 of Mawar Forest Range. The vehicle was intercepted at Yahama Muqam, Sanzipora, in Langate Range.

The operation was jointly executed by the Beat Officer and his team, Handwara Police, and the Forest Control Room (FCR) Langate, in a well-coordinated effort to tackle the illegal trade.

During the raid, a notorious timber smuggler and history-sheeter, Manzoor Shabangi of Malikpora, was apprehended on the spot. However, the driver of the seized vehicle managed to escape from the scene. The arrested smuggler was handed over to Qalamabad Police Station, while the seized vehicle has been taken into police custody.

Officials commended the swift action and timely support provided by Qalamabad Police, which played a key role in the success of the operation.

Local residents also welcomed the joint action by the Forest Department and Police, praising the authorities for their commitment to protecting forest wealth and curbing illegal logging activities.

Authorities reaffirmed their determination to act sternly against violators, reiterating that preservation of forests remains a top priority to safeguard the environment and natural resources.
