Awareness Camp on PMFME Scheme Held to Boost Rural Entrepreneurship in Langate

Langate,Jul,17:The Area Marketing Office Kupwara of the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing on Thursday organized a day-long awareness camp on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme at Town Hall Langate in district Kupwara.
The camp was aimed at spreading awareness among stakeholders about the objectives, scope, and benefits of the PMFME scheme, which is a Government of India initiative to strengthen the unorganised micro food processing sector and promote formalisation, competitiveness, and sustainability of local enterprises.
Representatives from various allied departments including Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, and the District Resource Person (DRP) of the PMFME scheme participated in the event. The officers provided comprehensive information about the scheme’s provisions related to financial support, skill development, infrastructure assistance, and entrepreneurship training for new and existing micro food processing units.
More than 100 participants, including young farmers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and existing food processing unit holders from across the Langate constituency, attended the camp and engaged in interactive sessions with the officials.
Speaking on the occasion, officers from the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, along with the District Officer Animal Husbandry and other departmental heads, emphasized the potential of the PMFME scheme to enhance rural livelihoods, empower local entrepreneurs, and improve food processing capabilities at the grassroots level.
The camp concluded with a call for youth and farmers to avail the benefits of the scheme and contribute to the growth of the agro-based economy in all over district especially in the Langate area.
