PDP President Mehbooba M***i chaired a meeting of senior party leaders at her residence in Khimber.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Mohd Sartaj Madni; Chairman of the Parliamentary Board A.R. Veeri; General Secretary (Organisation) Ghulam Nabi Hanjura; Chief Spokesperson Mehboob Beg; General Secretaries Khurshid Alam and Abdul Haq Khan; senior leaders Naeem Akhtar, Basharat Bukhari, Mansoor Hussain, and Yasir Reshi; along with MLAs Rafiq Ahmad Naik (Tral), Fayaz Ahmad Mir (Kupwara) and Waheed Para (Pulwama).

The meeting discussed party functioning and recent political developments in Jammu and Kashmir.

Now I have a question for Mehbooba Ji. If she chairs a review meeting of a central institution today, without being an MLA.

What stops an RSS or a BJP, NON-MLA functionary from chairing similar meetings. They can argue they have 28 MLAs against PDP’s 4 MLAs.

What stops Dr Farooq Abdullah Sahib or Azad Sahib or Nirmal Singh Sahib to chair similar meetings. The list can go on and on.

Is the elected political space in J & K destined to be a fish market.

Mehbooba Ji may have already opened the door for others. I will still say. It is imperative that she admits that it was an error of judgement.

If she doesn’t, it means she has opened the door for all sorts of unelected species and most likely politically undesirable species, especially in Kashmir, to chair similar such meetings.

And please will the CM once and for all times clear these issues. Had the CM not set his ministers against the opposition MLAs and eroded their authority. This event of constitutional impropriety may not have taken place.

And Nadda sahib is the honourable health minister of India. But he does not have the power to redesign constitutional roles. So whether Mehbooba Ji called him or not, hardly changes anything.

The chairing of the review meeting at AIIMS by a non MLA was an unconstitutional trespass and will remain an unconstitutional trespass.

Public Appeal for Rebuilding the Main Khanqah at Charar-e-Sharief

Srinagar: The people of Jammu & Kashmir, devotees of Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Alam Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA), and all those who cherish Kashmir's spiritual and cultural heritage earnestly appeal to the Hon’ble Minister of State and Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi Sahiba, to take the historic initiative of rebuilding and strengthening the Main Khanqah at Charar-e-Sharief.

The sacred Khanqah is not merely a structure of bricks and wood; it is the spiritual heart of Kashmir, symbolizing the teachings of peace, tolerance, brotherhood, and humanity propagated by Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA). Millions of devotees hold deep emotional and religious attachment with this revered shrine.

In view of the growing concerns regarding the structural safety and long-term sustainability of the existing building, there is a strong public sentiment that a comprehensive reconstruction of the Main Khanqah should be undertaken while preserving its traditional architecture, historical identity, and spiritual sanctity.

The people have full faith in the visionary leadership of Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi Sahiba, whose dedication towards the preservation and development of religious institutions has earned widespread appreciation. Under her stewardship, the reconstruction of the Main Khanqah would not only ensure the safety and convenience of devotees but would also stand as a lasting contribution towards safeguarding Kashmir’s priceless spiritual heritage for future generations.

We respectfully urge the Hon’ble Chairperson to initiate the process of rebuilding the Main Khanqah after broad consultations with religious scholars, heritage experts, local stakeholders, and the general public, so that this sacred landmark continues to inspire generations to come.

May this noble initiative become a historic milestone in preserving the legacy of Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) and strengthening the spiritual foundations of our society.

Driver booked for assaulting cop during traffic duty

Srinagar: Police today registered a case against a driver for allegedly assaulting an on-duty policeman after being asked to remove his vehicle that was causing a traffic obstruction at Bus Stand Crossing in Anantnag in south Kashmir.

A Police spokesperson said that a police team was regulating traffic at Bus Stand Crossing when a vehicle bearing registration number JK03Q-4040 was found parked on the roadside, leading to congestion and inconvenience to commuters.

When police personnel asked the driver to remove the vehicle to ensure smooth traffic flow, the driver allegedly became aggressive and assaulted the policemen on duty, the spokesperson said.

Following the incident, FIR No. 172/2026 was registered at Police Station Anantnag under relevant provisions of law and an investigation has been taken up, "Obstruction of public roads and assault on public servants performing their lawful duties are serious offences and will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law," the spokesperson said.
