Srinagar, August 25: PDP senior leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) today met with Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, accompanied by representatives of the BK Pora Market Association, to discuss a range of pressing issues affecting traders and local residents.

During the meeting, key concerns related to market infrastructure, regulatory challenges and community welfare were highlighted, with an emphasis on solutions that could improve day-to-day operations and the overall economic environment of the area.

“We are grateful to DC sahib for the patient and attentive hearing. Such engagement shows the administration’s willingness to listen and act.” Zaffer welcomed the assurance of support provided during the discussion.

Condoles Losses and Raises Public Grievances

Srinagar, Aug 23: Peoples Democratic Party senior leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) on Saturday visited Bugam in Chadoora and Rakhishalina in B.K. Pora to express condolences over the passing of the wife of Gh. Mohd. Bhat and Shabir Sofi.

“May the Almighty grant them eternal peace and provide strength to the bereaved families during this difficult time. We equally share this grief and extend solidarity to the kith and kin of the departed souls,” he said while interacting with the grieving families.

During the visit, Zaffer took stock of the ground situation and engaged with residents to understand their concerns, grievances and aspirations with regards to the basic infrastructure and civic amenities.

He did not shy away from holding the local governance accountable, grilling elected representatives for neglecting long-standing public grievances related to roads, electricity, drinking water and healthcare.

“It is unacceptable that citizens continue to face such hardships while authorities remain indifferent. Immediate attention is needed to ensure that basic facilities reach every household,” he asserted.

Srinagar, July 01: Congress leader and Media Coordinator Kashmir Dr. Audil Farooq Mir today visited Balhama, Lone Mohalla and Pandrethan in the Lal Chowk Constituency to personally assess the ground-level arrangements for Ashura.

During the visit, Dr. Audil noted several civic shortcomings in these areas, including poor sanitation, inadequate lighting, and a lack of safe drinking water—issues that have persisted over time. While acknowledging the efforts made so far by the local administration, he urged officials to intensify their work to meet the spiritual and practical needs of the community.

“Today’s visit was aimed at ensuring that the people are able to observe Muharram with dignity, peace, and proper facilities,” Dr. Audil stated. “I have requested both the BDO and the Additional Deputy Commissioner to take necessary steps for immediate cleaning, adequate lighting, and provision of drinking water—especially near the community centre by the new Panchayat Ghar in Balhama.”

He emphasized that such basic services are fundamental and should not be overlooked, especially during significant religious occasions. “These aren't luxuries. They are basic needs that reflect how responsive and sensitive our governance is to the sentiments of the people.”

Without being overly critical, Dr. Audil pointed out that the recurring neglect in some areas of the Lal Chowk Constituency calls for a more sustained and inclusive approach from elected representatives and officials alike.

Expresses Optimism for Hassle-Free and Peaceful Muharram Commemorations

Budgam, June 28 : PDP Senior leader Zaffar Mir (Lasjan) has reached out to the District Administration Budgam, requesting timely and comprehensive arrangements for the upcoming Muharram processions in the Chadoora subdivision.

The areas highlighted by Zaffer include Chattergam, Malik Gund, Rakhi Shalina, Kenihana, Suthsu, and S.K Bagh.

Recognizing the significance of Muharram for the Shia community, he called for coordinated efforts to ensure that all essential facilities—such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, medical aid and traffic management are in place to facilitate smooth and dignified mourning processions.

“Muharram holds deep spiritual meaning for thousands of devotees. I am confident that the administration will uphold its commitment by ensuring peaceful and well-managed observances across these areas,” Zaffer said.

He expressed appreciation for the administration’s past efforts and hoped for the same spirit of cooperation and efficiency this year as well.
