Ganderbal, Nov 7: In a decisive move to curb the misuse of SIM cards and enforce strict verification norms, Gund Police, led by SHO Rayees Ahmad, carried out surprise inspections at multiple SIM card outlets across the Gund area.

The operation was conducted under the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), with the objective of verifying the authenticity of SIM issuance procedures and detecting any fraudulent or unauthorized activations that could be exploited for unlawful purposes.

During the inspection, the Gund Police team, supervised by SHO Rayees Ahmad, meticulously scrutinized customer verification records, sale registers, and other documentation maintained by the vendors to ensure full compliance with telecom regulations.

Police officials said that such surprise checks are part of a broader effort to tighten monitoring mechanisms and prevent the circulation of SIM cards obtained through fake credentials or improper verification.

Authorities further emphasized that strict action will be taken against vendors found violating the prescribed norms, as misuse of SIM cards has often been linked to criminal and anti-social activities.

In a decisive step towards curbing the misuse of SIM cards and ensuring strict compliance with verification norms, the Sonamarg Police, led by SHO Afaq Majid, conducted surprise inspections at several SIM card vendor outlets across Sonamarg on Friday.

The operation, carried out under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), aimed to verify the authenticity of SIM issuance processes and detect any instances of fraudulent or unauthorized activations that could potentially be exploited for unlawful activities.

During the checks, police team meticulously examined customer verification records, sale registers, and other documentation maintained by the vendors to ensure adherence to established telecom guidelines.

Officials said the drive was part of an ongoing effort to strengthen surveillance over the mobile network ecosystem and to prevent anti-social elements from exploiting communication channels for criminal purposes.

IN ORDER TO PREVENT ISSUANCE OF FAKE SIM’s, GANDERBAL POLICE CONDUCTS RAIDS AT SIM CARD VENDORS

In a significant move to crack down on the misuse of SIM cards and to ensure strict adherence to verification norms, Ganderbal Police conducted surprise raids at various SIM card vendor outlets across the district.

The operation was carried out under the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal–JKPS, with the objective of verifying the authenticity of SIM issuance and preventing the circulation of fake or fraudulently obtained SIM cards that could potentially be misused for unlawful activities.

During the inspections, police teams thoroughly scrutinized customer verification records, sale registers, and other documentation maintained by the vendors in the Jurisdiction of P/S Ganderbal, P/S Kheerbawani, P/S Safapora, , P/S Lar, P/S Gund and PP Shadipora. The drive also aimed to ensure strict compliance with guidelines and procedures by all service providers and their retailers.

Vendors found violating norms or failing to maintain proper verification records have been warned of strict legal action under relevant laws. The inspection teams also sensitized the vendors about the legal consequences of issuing SIM cards without proper verification.

Ganderbal Police has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety and security by preventing the misuse of mobile connectivity for anti-social or criminal activities.

DGP J&K Chairs Security Review Meeting at PCR Kashmir

Srinagar: Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Conference Hall of PCR Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation in the Valley and to strategize measures for further strengthening the security and intelligence grid.

The meeting was attended by Spl. DG Coordination J&K S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir Zone, IG CRPF (KOS), IG CRPF (Srinagar Sector), range DIsG of J&K, DIG SSB Srinagar, DIsG CRPF (South and North Srinagar), all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, SP PC Srinagar, and other senior officers.

At the outset, participating officers briefed the DGP on the current security scenario and operational preparedness in their respective jurisdictions. The DGP reviewed the existing arrangements and issued directions aimed at enhancing overall coordination, efficiency, and field readiness.

DGP Nalin Prabhat emphasized strengthening the city’s security grid through advanced surveillance, effective inter-agency coordination, and proactive field engagement. He directed officers to establish dynamic and surprise nakas at strategic and vulnerable points to enhance area domination and deterrence.

He further instructed officers to maintain seamless communication between adjoining districts for inter-district security coordination and real-time information sharing. Stressing on operational agility, the DGP directed districts to reinforce their Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) with improved mobility, training, and equipment. He also called for modernization and upgradation of the communication network to ensure uninterrupted and secure connectivity across all levels.

The DGP concluded the meeting by reiterating the importance of professionalism, alertness, and people-friendly policing while maintaining the highest levels of operational readiness.
