*Man Convicted For Duping A Foreigner, Another Accused Convicted For Submitting Fake 10th Marks Card For Admission: Crime Branch Kashmir*

Srinagar, August 5 The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir on Tuesday said that it has successfully secured convictions in two separate criminal cases, marking a significant achievement in its ongoing efforts to combat economic crimes in the region.

In a handout to GNS, the CBK said that In the first case, the Court of City Judge Srinagar convicted the accused Mukhtar Ahmad Guroo and Nazir Ahmad Guroo both the sons of Gulla Mohd Guroo R/o Abi-Karpora, Nehru Park Dalgate Srinagar in case FIR No. 24/2008 under Section 420, 109-B RPC of P/S Crime Branch Kashmir (now Economic Offences Wing) after thorough investigation and diligent prosecution by Crime Branch Kashmir. The case pertained to grabbing of an amount of Rs. 34 lakhs from the complainant on the pretext of purchase of a residential immovable property, concealing the fact that the complainant being a foreigner cannot do so for, where the accused was found guilty of causing substantial financial loss to the complainant.

After marathon trial of 12 years the Honโ€™ble Court of law convicted both the accused individuals to simple imprisonment for a period of two years and imposed a fine of Rs 5000/- per offence.

In the second case, again the Honโ€™ble Court of City Judge Srinagar delivered a verdict in case FIR No. 54/2002 under Section 420, 468, 471, 120-B RPC of P/S Crime Branch Kashmir (now Economic Offences Wing) against seven accused individuals involved in preparing (in connivance with each other) and submitting fake marks card of 10th class for seeking admission for one of the accused in Higher Secondary School.

Following a detailed investigation that uncovered strong documentary, oral evidence and dedicated thorough legal pursuit leading to conviction. The Honโ€™ble Court of law convicted all seven accused individuals to simple imprisonment for a period of two years and imposed a fine of Rs 5000/- per offence.

These convictions reflect the commitment of Crime Branch Kashmir to uphold the rule of law and bring to justice those involved in white-collar crimes.

The department continues to pursue all such cases with professionalism and legal precision, reads the statement.(GNS)

Indian Journalist Association will become the voice of Kashmiri journalists - Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon

Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian Journalist Association, Jammu and Kashmir State Unit organized a dialogue session with Kashmiri media persons at Maisuma State Office in Srinagar. Media persons from various reputed newspapers and channels were present in this session organized to strengthen the media community in Kashmir.
This session was chaired by State President of Indian Journalist Association, Jammu and Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon.

Addressing the dialogue session, he said that Kashmiri journalists are facing many serious problems, which affect their freedom, security and livelihood. These problems are related to the complex social -political environment of the region, security challenges and government policies. To solve these issues, it is necessary to promote independent journalism, ensure security and improve communication facilities. He shared his views and objectives for the benefit of Kashmiri journalists through the Indian Journalist Association and said that Indian Journalist Association will become the voice of Kashmiri journalists.

During this interactive session, registered and new members of Indian Journalist Association, Kashmir media persons were present including State General Secretary Kabir Gilani, State Spokesperson Asif Manzoor Daily Jammu Jottings, Shuja Bakal 4tv, Peer Arafat Shree News, Imran Rasool The Revolutionary, Muhammad Hussain Khan Navdeep News, Bayanat The Revolutionary, Sahil Mehraj JK News Observer and Suhaib Ismail Ab Tak JK. All the participants shared the challenges, suggestions and tips faced by the journalists and expressed their faith and appreciation towards Indian Journalist Association.

Indian Journalist Association has been involved in giving its full contribution to protect the interests of all journalists of India, honouring journalists, promoting freedom of journalism and protecting the rights of journalists. Power Shutdown

SRINAGAR, JULY 22: According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, in order to facilitate shifting of electrical utilities, shutdown of 33 KV Kupwara Old line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Krusen, Sogam, Khumriyal, Diver, Machil shall remain off while power supply to Krusen, Sogam, Khumriyal, Diver, Machil and adjoining areas will be affected from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM on 26 & 28 July, 2025.

Similarly, shutdown of 33KV MES line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Station at MES shall remain off while power supply to Krusen, Sogam, Khumriyal, Diver, Machil and adjoining areas will be affected from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM on 24 & 26 July, 2025.

Two Killed, 9 Others Injured In Rajouri Road Accident

Srinagar, June 24: Atleast two people were killed while as nine others were injured in a road accident near Chattiyar-Chingus road early morning on Tuesday in Rajouri district.

Official told GNS that a Tempo bearing registration number JK02AW-9030 had a collision a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02CG-7011 this morning near Chattiyar-Chingus. In this incident two people were killed while as nine others were injured. Army, police and rescue team immediately reached the spot for rescue operation.

The deceased has been identified as Insha Fatima(26) daughter of Akhtar Ali resident of Dhanwan Kote and Farzana Begum(50) wife of Mohd Iqbal resident of Fatehpur.

All the nine injured have been shifted to GMC Rajouri for treatment, they said.(GNS)
