Police takes strict action against to***co violations under COTPA in Shopian; 26 shops fined

October 24: In its continued commitment to fostering a healthy, safe, and drug-free environment for students, Police in Shopian conducted a special checking drive across the district, targeting shops located within a 100-meter radius of educational institutions.

The drive was part of an ongoing initiative to enforce the provisions of the Ci******es and Other To***co Products Act (COTPA), 2003, which prohibits the sale of to***co products near educational institutions. During the inspection drive, a total of 26 shops were found violating COTPA regulations and were duly fined.

Shopkeepers and vendors were sensitized about the harmful effects of to***co use and the legal consequences of selling such products within prohibited zones. They were categorically instructed not to sell to***co or related products to minors or within restricted areas.

J&K Police reaffirmed its dedication to enforcing laws aimed at protecting youth from the dangers of to***co and other addictive substances. Authorities emphasized that such drives will continue across the district to ensure strict compliance and discourage unhealthy and unlawful practices near schools and colleges.

The public is urged to cooperate with police authorities and report any violations to help maintain a to***co-free and healthy environment for students.

ترہگام کپوارہ میں مصنوعی اعضا لگانے کا کیمپ، بھارتی فوج اور بی ایم وی ایس ایس گروپ کی مشترکہ پہل

کپواڑہ // ترگام کپواڑہ میں بھارتی فوج کی 28 ویں انفنٹری ڈویژن کی جانب سے ایک خصوصی مصنوعی اعضا لگانے کا کیمپ (Artificial Limb Fitment Camp) شروع کیا جا رہا ہے، جو 25 اکتوبر سے 27 اکتوبر 2025 تک جاری رہے گا۔ یہ کیمپ 41 آر آر (رشٹریہ رائفلز) کے ترہگام کیمپ میں منعقد ہو رہا ہے۔
یہ فلاحی اقدام بھارتی فوج کی جانب سے بی ایم وی ایس ایس (BMVSS) جے پور فٹ گروپ کے اشتراک سے کیا جا رہا ہے، جس کا مقصد جسمانی معذوری کے شکار افراد کو مفت طبی سہولیات اور مصنوعی اعضا فراہم کرنا ہے۔کیمپ میں مصنوعی بازو اور ٹانگیں (Artificial Prosthetic Limbs)پولیو متاثرہ افراد کے لیے کلپرز (Clippers for Polio Patients)واکر، کلاچز اور وہیل چیئرز،سماعت کے آلات (Hearing Aids)تیزی سے نصب ہونے والے مصنوعی اعضا (Rapid Limb Fit) مفت فراہم کئے جائیں گے۔انتظامیہ کے مطابق یہ کیمپ علاقے کے معذور افراد کے لیے ایک بڑی سہولت ثابت ہوگا، جہاں ماہر ڈاکٹر اور ٹیکنیشن موجود رہیں گے تاکہ متاثرین کو موقع پر ہی موزوں مصنوعی اعضا لگائے جا سکیں۔فوجی ذرائع کے مطابق اس مہم کا مقصد سرحدی علاقوں میں بسنے والے افراد کو بااختیار بنانا اور انہیں زندگی میں دوبارہ فعال کردار ادا کرنے کے قابل بنانا ہے۔

جموں کشمیر یوٹی میں پہلی بار سخت ترین حفاظتی انتظامات کے بیچ راجیہ سبھا کے چار نشستوں کیلئے ووٹنگ ہوئی جس دوران نیشنل کانفرنس نے تین جبکہ بی جے پی نے ایک سیٹ پر جیت درج کر لی ۔ ادھر سیول سیکرٹریٹ سرینگر کے باہر نیشنل کانفرنس کے حمایتی کارکنوں نے جیت کا جشن منایا ۔سی این آئی کے مطابق جموں و کشمیر کے یوٹی بننے کے بعد پہلی بار راجیہ سبھا کی چار سیٹوں کیلئے جموں کشمیر قانون ساز اسمبلی کمپلکس میں ووٹنگ ہوئی ۔ راجیہ سبھا سیٹوں کیلئے حزب اقتدار نیشنل کانفرنس نے چودھری محمد رمضان ، سجاد احمد کچلو،جی ایس اوبرائے، جسے شمی اوبرائے بھی کہا جاتا ہے اور عمران نبی ڈار کو میدان میں اتارا تھا جبکہ بی جے پی کی جانب سے علی محمد میر ، راکیش مہاجن اور ست شرما کو نامزد کیا گیا ۔ انتخابات میں نیشنل کانفرنس اور کانگریس کے علاوہ آزاد امید وار خورشید احمد شیخ نے نیشنل کانفرنس کے حق میں ووٹ ڈالنے کا اعلان کیا تھا ۔ ووٹنگ کے دوران کل ملا کر 68ممبران اسمبلی نے قانون ساز اسمبلی ہال اور ڈوڈہ کے ممبر اسمبلی نے جیل میں ہی اپنا ووٹ ڈالا تاہم پیپلز کانفرنس کے چیرمین سجاد غنی لون نے اپنا ووٹ نہیں ڈالا ۔ ووٹوں کی گنتی کے دوران سب سے پہلے نیشنل کانفرنس کے سینئر لیڈر اور سابق وزیر چودھری محمد رمضان جموں و کشمیر سے راجیہ سبھا کیلئے منتخب ہوئے ہیں، جنہوں نے 58 ووٹ حاصل کیے۔ راجیہ سبھا کی چار نشستوں کیلئے ہونے والے انتخابات میں نیشنل کانفرنس کے چودھری محمد رمضان کا بی جے پی کے علی محمد میر سے سیدھا مقابلہ تھا اور انہوں نے اس کو شکست دیکر اپنی جیت درج کر لی ۔ اسی طرح سے دو سری سیٹ پر نیشنل کانفرنس کے سجاد کچلو اور بی جے پی کے راکیش مہاجن کے مابین مقابلہ تھا جس دوران سجاد کچلو اپنے مد مقابل امید وار کو شکست دینے میں کامیاب ہو گئے ہیں ۔ تیسرے سیٹ پر بھی نیشنل کانفرنس کے خزانچی جی ایس اوبرائے، جسے شمی اوبرائے بھی کہا جاتا ہے نے اپنے حریف کو شکست دیکر سیٹ پر قبضہ جما لیا جبکہ چوتھی سیٹ پر بی جے پی کے ست شرما نے نیشنل کانفرنس کے عمران نبی ڈار کو شکست دیکر جیت درج کر لی ۔ اسی دوران سیول سیکرٹریٹ کے بارے نیشنل کانفرنس اور بی جے پی کے حمایتی کارکنوں نے جشن منایا اور وہاں ماحول انتہائی گرم جوش دیکھنے کو ملا ۔
