Since schools are opening and the city roads especially, Lal Chowk are in bad shape, the traffic authorities have asked the DSEK to change the school timings to 9am instead of 9:50 am which otherwise is the routine school timing during winters.
Though the demand of the traffic authorities is genuine keeping in view the road conditions and diversions in place, but important point that everyone is missing here is that if the timings are rescheduled to 9am as is being planned, what impact will it have on the kids.
A minor, 4 of 5 year old kid has to reach school by 9 am means that he has to leave his home by 8 am or 8:15 at the max. This means that he has to come out of the bed at 7 and get ready and even take his breakfast as well.
Won’t this move reduce the kids sleeping hours and impact their well being. Why are the traffic authorities concerned about their well being alone and letting the kids to suffer? Why is this nonsensical move being ‘well taken’ by the DSEK. Why don’t the DSEK think about the kids well being. Why is the administration not coming out in support of the hapless kids and not disallowing the move to change the timings……we need answers as the safety and well being of kids is at stake.
