*Fresh Snowfall Disrupts Connectivity in Kashmir; Highway Closed, Flights and Trains Suspended*

Srinagar, Jan 23: Fresh snowfall across the Kashmir Valley on Friday severely disrupted road, rail, and air connectivity, forcing the closure of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway and cancellation of multiple flights and train services.
Officials said traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was suspended in both directions after heavy snow accumulation near the Navyug Tunnel made the stretch unsafe for vehicular movement.
The Valley witnessed continuous snowfall since late Thursday night, impacting several key routes. In addition to NH-44, the Mughal Road, Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri (SSG) Road, and Sinthan Road were also closed due to fresh snowfall.
Authorities advised commuters to avoid travel on the affected routes until snow clearance operations are completed and roads are declared safe. People were also urged not to rely on rumours and to check official Traffic Police advisories for updates on road conditions.
Air traffic was also hit, with at least 17 flights to and from Srinagar Airport cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Officials said further cancellations could not be ruled out as snowfall continued. The affected flights included services connecting Srinagar with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Jammu. Passengers have been advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates.
Meanwhile, rail services on the Banihal–Baramulla section were suspended after several passenger trains were cancelled owing to heavy snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir. ANB
