Two persons escaped from the high security Central Jail in Srinagar, One is reportedly from Anantnag and another is from Rajasthan.

Both escaped early morning on Sunday by scaling front side wall of Jail, Massive hunt for them has been launched by J&K Police.

Anantnag Police Apprehends Eight Gamblers in Pahalgam; ₹19,290 Stake Money Seized

Pahalgam, Aug 23: Police Station Pahalgam apprehended eight persons, all residents of Srinagar, who were found indulging in gambling activities on the banks of Lidder Nallah at Laripora, Pahalgam.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh. Rasool Bhat R/o Guzarbal Chatabal; Danish Amin Khan S/o Mohd Amin Khan R/o Syed Hameed Pora Nawabazar; Aabid Hassan Najar S/o Gh. Hassan Najar R/o Khanawari Zaldegar, Nawabazar; Suhail Ahmad Najar S/o Gh. Nabi Najar R/o Rajouri Kadal; Bilal Ahmad Matoo S/o Ab. Aziz Matoo R/o Khandbawan, Nawakadal; Fardeen Ahmad Rah S/o Reyaz Ahmad Rah R/o Syed Hameed Pora, MR Gung; Javid Ahmad Hurrah S/o Ali Mohammad Hurrah R/o Laigerduri Eidgah, Wanganpora; and Uzair Yaqoob Najar S/o Mohammad Yaqoob R/o Dal Hassan Yaar, Munawar Khayam.

During the raid, stake money amounting to ₹19,290 was recovered and seized.

Cognizance of the matter has been taken, and further proceedings under the relevant provisions of law have been initiated.

Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining law and order and taking firm action against unlawful activities.

26-Year-Old Youth from Shirpora Dies in Achabal Road Accident

Anantnag, Aug 16 (KF): A 26-year-old youth from Shirpora, Anantnag, tragically lost his life in a road accident at Thajiwara, Achabal, in Anantnag district on Sunday.

Officials told KF that the deceased has been identified as Owais Ahmad Shah, son of Mohammad Yaseen Shah, a resident of Shirpora, Anantnag.

Officials said Owais was critically injured in the accident and was shifted to Government Medical College, Anantnag, for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.
