Srinagar, 07 April: A crucial meeting of APHC Executive members which included chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat, Bilal Ghani Lone , Masroor Abbas Ansari was held at the residence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq after the third summon was sent to him by NIA to come to New Delhi for questioning as witness. The meeting strongly condemned the move and said that the Chairman was being deliberately harassed and there was an effort to criminalize leadership for their political stand. They said that APHC is a political coalition of political parties striving for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue and to associate it with anything to do terror is ridiculous and deliberate victimization for our political ideology.
APHC said It’s unfortunate that while they have always maintained that Kashmir is a political issue that needs resolution peacefully and humanely and always worked towards that end and walked the talk in that regard by welcoming and participating in every effort at dialogue between the stakeholders yet rulers of the day are resorting to such tactics to harass and intimidate them under the garb of legality.
APHC said that despite having nothing to do with the matter yet the Mirwaiz through his legal council had said that he was ready to cooperate in the investigation but had asked the agency to hold it in Srinagar as he had several genuine concerns including serious security concerns in New Delhi. APHC said that NIA has refused to conduct the investigation in Srinagar but said in the notice that it would take care of his security concern. APHC said that it is unfortunate that they did take into account the other concerns and are insisting on investigation in Delhi. APHC said that the meeting decided that they will all accompany Mirwaiz to New Delhi for the investigation.
APHC said that they know that people are anguished and concerned for the Mirwaiz as their religious emotions are also attached to him as Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir , besides him being a representative of their political sentiments. They said that they know that people are deeply anguished by the harassment of Mirwaiz , urging them to stay calm and peaceful .They said that Mirwaiz or any member of APHC has nothing to do with the so called funding case and it is sheer vindictiveness on the part of authorities.

APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq denounced the authorities decision of once again barring congregational Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid on the auspicious occasion of Mehraj-e-Alam (SAW)

In a statement the Mirwaiz said that disallowing the people from offering congregational prayers at the grand masjid, the spiritual centre of people, where masjlis-e-Toba-e-Istigfaar was to be held, has deeply hurt religious sentiments of hundreds of people hurt .

Mirwaiz said repeatedly locking down the grand mosque is unacceptable and stated that while entire Muslim Umaah is observing Mehraj-e-Alam with religious fervour, thousands of Kashmiri people were deprived of their religious right and stopped from attending the traditional religious event at Jamia Masjid as stringent curbs were in place amid heavy deployment of forces. Mirwaiz said that religious rights of people are also not spared.

Mirwaiz said that the policy of oppression being followed in Kashmir is nothing but a sheer political vendetta against the people and to punish them.

Meanwhile, APHC spokesman strongly condemned the use of force against the inmates at Central Jail terming the move as ultimate highhandedness on part of the jail authorities stating that beating inmates have left at least five prisoners badly injured and the assault against inmates has raised the apprehensions that prisoners were living under a great risk and life threat to them

Srinagar, Mar 03: APHC reiterated that the lingering Kashmir issue is a political and human problem that needs to be resolved in its historical perspective for lasting peace in conflict torn Kashmir and the entire region.
APHC said that massive repression that has been unleashed on ground against people. Instilling Fear and intimidation of people from all segments of society is at full display. Custodial killing is back resistance and religious leaders and youth are being arrested and shifted to outside jails and slapped with arbitrary PSA, frequent CASOs are launched across the length and breadth of Kashmir, there is ban on peaceful protests and even seminars organised to honor our dear are not allowed. Unabated killings continue and the infamous operation all-out is being carried out in full force while people of Kashmir are shouldering the coffins of their loved ones.
APHC said that people and APHC leadership have repeatedly been urging New Delhi to resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully through dialogue among the stakeholders including India Pakistan and the people of entire J&K. But instead, after the February 14 incident repression has increased a policy of banning political and socio-religious organizations and arresting leadership and activists of these parties under draconian PSAs and shifting them to outside prisons, and using NIA and ED to harass and intimidate the resistance leaders and their family members. Kashmir has been converted into a military garrison and an atmosphere of fear has been created to intimidate people and choke them.
On the other hand, there is an all-out attempt to tinker with article 35A and 370 to change the demography of the state and its disputed character. It is people’s strong resistance that is preventing the rulers from undoing it.
APHC said under such circumstances when repression is an all time high there is an atmosphere of fear and suffocation, parliamentary elections are being held which is an exercise in futility as holding these elections will in no way bring any relief to people or help in resolution of the dispute or change the reality of repression on ground. Instead, there should be efforts to speed up the resolution of the dispute by pushing all parties to a table for dialogue.
APHC said that as it is a futile exercise people need to stay away from this as it can in no way help in the resolution of the basic issue of Kashmir.
The leadership said that at a time when leadership has been lodged in jails and confined to their own homes, every segment of society has to play its part to contribute towards the Kashmir struggle by remaining steadfast and united. People have to have faith that their supreme sacrifices and patience will In Sha Allah be rewarded as there is no other option other than the resolution of the lingering issue.

Srinagar, Mar 29: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing the Friday gathering at Jama Masjid said asking for resolution of Kashmir issue is neither terror nor crime. He said Govt of India should not criminalize our political aspirations which are rooted in history and principle of justice.
Mirwaiz said APHC have always taken a realistic and principled stand and advocated dialogue among stakeholders as a means to finding an acceptable solution for all parties involved in the dispute and for friendship between India and Pakistan. He said that his late father AAC founder Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Farooq was a great advocate of good relationship between India and Pakistan and peace for the region. In fact, it was he who for the first time put forth the proposal for tripartite dialogue among the three stakeholders at the historic Gol Bagh rally in 1975.
Mirwaiz said when we welcomed and participated in the talks with New Delhi and Islamabad we demonstrated our eagerness and faith in it as a means for resolution of the issue understanding fully well that people of Kashmir are the most affected party in issue. We have and will continue to advocate and push for dialogue as it is the way forward as Kashmiri’s are most at receiving end of the lingering dispute and almost every day are getting killed in one form or other.
Giving details of Program in connection with Mehraj-e-Alam(SAW) Mirwaiz said that in keeping with tradition he will delivering sermon on significance of Mehraj Ul Alam (SAW) at Aali Masjid on 3rd April from Magrib onwards and a Majlis-e-Tauba Istegfar will be held at Jamia Masjid Srinagar on Friday 5th of April.

Srinagar, Mar 14: APHC strongly denounced the lies and canards are being circulated by some media channels through unsubstantiated leaks by agencies bent on harassing the Mirwaiz. APHC spokesman said after the illegal raid at Mirwaiz residence the media through propaganda and lies is already passing its verdict on Mirwaiz to vitiate public opinion against him in India. The spokesman said the so-called high tech system “recovered “ from the Mirwaiz residence is a legal direct internet class B lease line free to air from a private internet provider in Regal Chowk. The tower in the premise was erected after the service provider said that for last mile connectivity between Regal Chowk and his house a tower needed to be erected. The tower would also be used for surveillance purpose by putting a PTZ camera to monitor the whole area as the police personnel at his residence had insisted on surveillance cameras. To say it was "recovered" and used as some kind of “hotline “ with other country is ridiculous. The government police cover that the Mirwaiz had at his residence all these years knew about it all along.
The spokesman further said that as the Mirwaiz said in his press statement after he was not allowed a press conference after the illegal raid at his residence, that letterheads of APHC Anjuman Auqaf and AAC were seized by the investigative agency and no seizure report was given to Mirwaiz despite his request to them. The electronic media reports that some incriminating letterheads were recovered is mischievous and a cause of concern as the agency may be tamper with what that seized and as no seizure report was given.
APHC said that Despite knowing that it is an attempt to harass him Mirwaiz has said that he is willing to cooperate in the matter in Srinagar but the way it is being done and the propaganda campaign being run around it besides, putting his safety in danger outside Kashmir shows that there are clearly other reasons behind it than what is being touted.

Srinagar, Mar 13: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Wednesday held an emergency meeting at party Hqtrs Rajbagh Srinagar. The meeting was chaired by former APHC Chairman and Executive Member Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat while as senior leaders including Bilal Gani Lone, Moulana Masroor Abbas, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Abdul Majeed Wani, Sufi Mushtaq Ahmad, Jaffar Kashmiri, Adv Abdul Majeed Banday and other representatives of other constituent parties were also present.
The meeting discussed the present political scenario, in special reference to the summoning of APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to Delhi by the NIA. Soon after the meeting Prof Abdul Gani Bhat and Bilal Gani Lone addressed a crowded press conference:
Following is the text of the statement read over in the presser:
1. APHC was launched as far back as June 1993 as the symbol of Political Unity in Kashmir with a view to preserving the idea through thick and thin. Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq a young boy had the honor to be its first Chairman in recognition of his Politico-Religious background. He represents an Office which is so sacred that interference in any form or at any level with his position is extremely likely to inflict a wound deep into the collective political consciousness of Kashmir. There is no gainsaying the fact that the conglomerate has passed through thick as well as thin. However what is striking about is, it preserves the beauty of unity of purpose at all costs. We are determined to preserve it in future as well. Let there may no mistake about it that APHC as a forum is democratic in essence and does not, therefore, believe in violence in any form or manifestation let alone so called “terror-funding?”. It may not be out of place to mention here that the Chairman himself is the victim of violence. As a matter of fact, the forum has all along been actively supporting efforts aimed at building abiding relations between India and Pakistan which is where our position to resolve the dispute through talks needs to be appreciated. We did actually do the talking with the leadership in governments across the sub-continent with a view to working out an acceptable and just solution of dispute on Kashmir. In-fact we were the ones who led the dialogue in 2004 and 2005 despite tremendous backlash and sacrifice. In June 2004 Mirwaiz Saheb’s uncle was killed and his house was bombed, Islamia School burnt yet he did not give up and continued talking to Manmohan Singh Ji. That speaks volumes of his commitment to peaceful resolution. To accuse him of having anything to do with so called “terror funding “is ridiculous, nothing more but political vendetta.
2. APHC considers in the interests of all that now is the time that we consider bigger issues rather than involve in nerve breaking tactics. Remember, now is different. We will have to rise above and take the lead ourselves. However, APHC appreciates that United States of America, The People’s Republic of China, Kingdom of Saudi-Arabia, Russia and Great-Britten for their efforts towards ensuring that the situation doesn’t go out of hand.
3. India and Pakistan as nuclear powers can hardly exhibit laxity towards tomorrow. We have to live together and live peacefully to ensure prosperity and development. What constitutes an obstacle will have to be addressed. Talks are the call of times. Let’s take the call and move ahead towards a brighter future and a better region. We can hardly afford to live with tension, acrimony and ill-will.
4. Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq the Chairman of APHC who also heads Social and Educational Institutions Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Anjuman Nusratul Islam, Darul Khair all completely accounted for institutions, audited each year. People give donation to these organisations. During floods of 2014 in just 15 days through Mirwaiz Saheb mobilisation, more than 1Cr was raised through Darul Khair.
Mirwaiz Saheb our Chairman has made it absolutely clear that he is willing to cooperate with any investigation but what is upsetting is that a hostile environment is being willfully generated to cause harassment.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference strongly denounced the sealing of Kashmir’s grand masjid, Jamia Masjid, for the second consecutive week and not allowing the faithful to offer Friday prayers ,imposing curfew in Mary areas of Srinagar, and barring the chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from offering prayers and delivering the religious Friday sermon at Jamia Masjid.
Hurriyat said that on the call of Joint Resistance leadership (JRL), a protest rally was staged at Lal Bazar, Srinagar that was led by Muhammad Shafi Khan against the illegal slapping of PSA on resistance leaders including JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifting him to Kot Balwal and Jamat e Islami leaders , moves to tinker with the hereditary state-subject law and the NIA raids against leadership. Speaking on the occasion Khan said that the leadership condemns the authoritarian approach of the government adding that the repressive ploys being adopted by New Delhi to force people and leadership into submission won’t succeed as Kashmir dispute is internationally acknowledged and will have to be resolved.
Meanwhile, on the eve of International Women’s Day, Hurriyat said that while entire world is observing this day acknowledging the rights and contribution of women across the globe , in Jammu and Kashmir women are bearing the maximum the brunt of repression due to non resolution of the issue. The Hurriyat said that people of Kashmir today remember the valour and resilience of the women of village Kunan-Poshpora. While the cruelty inflicted on Neolofar , Asiya, Asifa and so many of our women and young girls who have been killed or whose the eye-sight has been snatched by use of lethal pellets including Insha Mustaq, and minor Hiba all awaiting justice and suffering as a consequence of lingering Kashmir dispute. Hurriyat urged the world human rights groups to take note of the crimes against women being committed in Kashmir and play there role in stopping it.

Srinagar, Mar 04: All Parties Hurriyat Conference paid glowing tributes to civilian youth Waseem Ahmed Mir, armed youth Ishfaq Majid Mir and his associate martyred during an encounter at Babagund area of Handwara with the government forces stated it was the direct outcome of New Delhi’s repressive measures that Kashmir’s young generation was forced to choose armed path.
The Hurriyat strongly condemned the use of hundreds of mortar shells by the government forces under the garb of finishing the operation with the result at least a dozen residential houses at encounter site have been turned into heaps of rubble.
It said that lacs of forces deployed across Kashmir are unleashing a worst form of terror by harassing, intimidating, thrashing and killing innocent people including youth. The Hurriyat said that whenever people tried to stage peaceful protests and raise voice against the government oppression, military might is used to silence them.
Condemning the widespread wave of CASOs across the length and breadth of south and northern Kashmir areas, the Hurriyat said laced with the unbridled powers including the black laws, like AFSPA the government forces are committing serious human rights violations.

28/02/2019

Srinagar, Feb 28: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference termed the fresh wave of coercive NIA raids on the residences of resistance leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as a well planned design and propaganda to malign and implicate leadership in false cases and discredit the people’s movement for self determination.
In a statement issued here, Hurriyat expressed strong resentment and condemned the authorities decision of barring APHC chairman from addressing media men and placing him under house arrest since yesterday stating that such authoritarian measures will not be able to cow leadership down.
Hurriyat strongly condemned the detention and house detention of many resistance and religious leaders that include Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr Hameed Fayaz, Jamiat-e-Ahlihadees vice chairman Muhstaq Ahmed Veeri besides dozens of religious and hundreds of pro-freedom activists and termed the move as an utter frustration and dictatorial on part of the authorities. Hurriyat said that situation in Kashmir was going from bad to worse and that by arresting and caging the resistance leadership activists and youth and psychologically intimidating people the rulers will not succeed in suppressing truth and justice.
Spokesman said the Kashmir struggle is an internationally acknowledged just struggle for the resolution of the political dispute and no amount of military might can change it as the past 30 years in particular show.
Stating that the main reason of tension between India and Pakistan was the lingering Kashmir dispute, Hurriyat said that Kashmir issue has again become a flash-point today when both countries are engaged in another conflict over it and unless it is addressed politically and peacefully such situations will keep arising putting the region into peril.

27/02/2019

Srinagar, Feb 27: A press conference today regarding the coercive NIA raid at APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq residence and the prevailing situation by APHC chairman and executive member Bilal Gani Lone was not allowed by authorities barred the press from entering Mirwaiz residence. As such Mirwaiz is releasing a press statement:
“First thing leadership and people of Kashmir greatly urge India and Pakistan not to escalate the situation and desist from warmongering which will be a disaster for the entire region. We ask both governments that as in the past escalation and war can never resolve the issues between them and only talking to one another is the way forward. APHC reiterates the call for dialogue.”
As you are aware there is a threatening and grave atmosphere created by the authoritarian state across Kashmir and people are being psychologically intimidated. Journalists and media are being targeted and two newspapers are facing reprisal.
In keeping with this wave of repression and intimidation coercive raids were conducted at the residence of resistance leadership Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Ashraf Sehrai, Naseem Geelani and others by the NIA yesterday including at mine from morning from 8 am and lasted till around 6 pm in the evening. A cordon was laid around my house by a large number of paramilitary forces who entered the premises of my house.
“Around 15 to 20 people from NIA accompanied by two local policemen entered my house and office and thoroughly searched it as also the homes of my relatives who live around me. After these thorough coercive searches, certain items were confiscated by them which included my laptop and phones, hard drives from my office computers, press releases on Hurriyat and Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid letterheads, records of Kashmiri students studying in Pakistan medical colleges that Hurriyat recommends. I was not given the copy of magisterial order for search though I was shown a copy. Upon leaving I was not given the seizure Memo of things seized from me which is the norm.
When I asked for it, I was told to approach court for it.”
“Later in the NIA press release in evening, they have used word incriminating evidence which is a matter of concern there was nothing so-called ‘incriminating’ that was taken. As I was not given a seizure memo any mischief can be done.”
“It was also said that “a high tech internet communication was also recovered”. This in actuality is a simple Internet lease line by a private company which is commonly used in media offices and at homes for good and uninterrupted internet use. The word recovered is part of the propaganda to give an impression as if it was something hidden that has been discovered.”
“We will approach international organizations as these intimidating and threatening tactics are being adopted against leadership and activists by the authorities which are totally undemocratic and totalitarian.”
APHC chairman said that ours is peaceful political movement there is a deliberate design to link it with violence and through that route, harass intimidate and malign us. Simultaneously a viscous and steady campaign to demonize Kashmiri’s and generate hate against us is promoted, especially through electronic media to justify repression against people and action against us and to project the people’s just struggle for self-determination as an enterprise. The great sacrifices and struggles of people offered for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute are undermined. Propaganda has taken over reality and people of India are being deliberately misled and fed lies.
It is not difficult to understand that at a time of elections in India when other things have failed for the rulers, Kashmir is being used the whipping boy and people of Kashmir are being targeted threatened and intimidated to polarize Indian voters and garner votes. Threats of removing 370 and 35 A is kept hanging over our heads like a Damocles sword to be used as and when the electoral situation for them demands.
Let the rulers know for a fact that people of Kashmir will defend this article at all costs. Whether leadership is in jails or out, if any tinkering is done with it people will be on streets, no one in J&K is going to take this assault at our identity and disputed status lying low.
Mirwaiz said we believe in dialogue to resolve the dispute. We have walked the talk when it came to engagement and done so in the past even at huge risks and sacrifice. We do not want war and violence. We want our youth to live and prosper not be forced to a violent path. But that cannot happen through repression and coercion. That can only happen when the sentiment and aspirations of Kashmiri’s are addressed in its human and historical context.

27/02/2019

Ahead of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq's Press Conference, a contingent of Police arrived at his residence to prevent media from entering inside.

Srinagar, Feb 21: All Parties Hurriyat Conference while demanding the immediate shifting of Kashmiri prisoners’ back to Kashmir lodged in various Indian prisons stating that the murder of a Pakistani prisoner in Jaipur prison of Rajasthan has raised serious concerns among the families of Kashmiri inmates leaving them worried a lot amid apprehensions that their loved ones may also face the similar attacks.
The Hurriyat said the leadership have time and again demanded return of Kashmiri prisoners back to Valley shifted even against the Supreme Court ruling that says prisoners be lodged close to their homes.
The Hurriyat said that the present situation across India is worsening in the wake of murderous assaults against Kashmir students and businessmen at the hands of Hindu fanatic elements while same elements were forcing the Kashmiri students studying in various Indian universities and colleges to flee.
The Hurriyat said in such a grave situation, the respective state heads of various Indian states have failed to protect and safeguard the Kashmiri students and businessmen, thus leaving them at the mercy of frenzied mobs of fanatic elements.
The Hurriyat said that given the venomous propaganda against the Kashmiris and the back to back attacks on the innocent businessmen, the prisoners lodged in various Indian states are feeling highly insecure as the present situation has increased their apprehensions that they can face similar treatment inside the jails where they are languishing for just their political beliefs.
The Hurriyat said that to save the Kashmiri prisoners from getting killed at the hands of irate people, it is highly inevitable to shift them back to Kashmir without any further delay.
The Hurriyat lauded and hailed the efforts of members of Sikh community for helping the Kashmiris struck in various Indian States by organizing free kitchens and food and stated that this was the best example of humanity and others should take a cue from it.
The Hurriyat said that the way space for Kashmiris is being squeezed across India was painful as an atmosphere of hatred was being created across India against Kashmiris and there are apprehensions that situation may take a further ugly turn in the coming days.
