Mega Seminar on “Drug-Free Kashmir” Held at Government College of Education, Srinagar
A grand and dignified seminar titled "Drug-Free Kashmir" was held today at the Government College of Education, M.A. Road, Srinagar, as part of an ongoing awareness campaign against drug abuse. The event was organized by Voice of Weekly Newspapers of Kashmir in collaboration with the A.R. Azad Memorial Foundation, with the active support of Jammu & Kashmir Police Srinagar, J&K Bank, and the Cultural Wing of the Department of Information and Public Relations.
The program was presided over by renowned political and social figure Dr. Sakina Yatoo, currently serving as the Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Higher Education, Health & Medical Education, and Social Welfare. In her comprehensive address, she expressed deep concern over the rising trend of substance abuse and emphasized the need for collective awareness and coordinated efforts to safeguard the youth from this menace.
The seminar witnessed the enthusiastic participation of senior officials from police and civil administration, doctors, lawyers, academicians, social activists, and a large number of students from various colleges. Speakers elaborated on the harmful effects of drug addiction and reaffirmed their commitment to taking concrete steps within their respective domains to eliminate this social evil.
Throughout the program, various speakers highlighted the importance of spreading awareness in society, engaging youth in constructive activities, and strengthening the role of parents, teachers, and civil society in this mission. Participants termed the event purposeful and highly relevant to the current times, stressing the need for continuity of such impactful initiatives.
