Deputy Commissioner,Shishir Gupta today conducted an inspection of Shopian Aglar macadamisation work being executed by the PMGSY Shopian.

The DC was accompanied by ADC,Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz and SDM Zainapora,Bilal Ahmad and other officers where he inspected macadamisation works at Pahnoo,Trenz, Heff and Aglar to ascertain the onspot condition of the road and quality of work.

The DC directed for executing the works as per the timelines of the project and maintaining the quality.Drainage and sanitation works along the road was also emphasized upon and directions issued to improve visibility and safety along the road.

At Pahnoo, the DC interacted with locals who apprised him of development of link road and the repair of drainage work.The DC sought the status of the road and assured for its early provision for development and macadamisation. He directed for preventing water logging in Pahno where he directed for drainage improvements.

The 22.5 Km Shopian Aglar road, is being developed through Renewal cost in patches under Incentive Fund of PMGSY with an allotted cost of 381.16 lakhs.The road shall be renewed during this season and shall remain under maintenance for 5 years,the concerned engineer apprised.

Man From Srinagar Arrested Along With 3 Pistols In Nagrota Jammu, Vehicle Seized: Police

Jammu, July 30: Police on Wednesday said that in a significant arms recovery operation, Jammu Police apprehended one person at TCP Naka on Byepass Nagrota on monday.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that the accused, identified as Azan Hameed Gazi S/o. Abdul Hameed Gazi R/o Hilalabad, Qamarwari, Srinagar,was intercepted while travelling from Jammu towards Srinagar in a Toyota Etios (registration number HR38Z/2066).

During the search of the vehicle, police personnel recovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live cartridges and two empty cartridges from a handbag concealed under the co-driver’s seat.The accused failed to produce any valid documents or licenses for the recovered arms and ammunition.

Acting swiftly, police registered a case, FIR No. 170/2025, Section 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Nagrota.

The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended use of the weapons, reads the statement.(GNS)

Gunfight Breaks Out In Poonch Village

Srinagar, July 30: An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces in Kasaliyan area of Poonch district on Wednesday.

A senior police officer told GNS that a team of Police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kasaliyan on a very specific input.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected area, the hiding terrorists fired upon the joint party, leading to an encounter, officer added.

Till this report was being filed intermittent exchange of fire was going on and two terrorists are believed to be trapped.(GNS)

Journalists planted trees to aware about environmental protection.

Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Indian Journalist Association organized a tree plantation program in Pachpedwa Chaksa Hussain, Gorakhpur under the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. In this program, all the journalists present planted neem trees with the spirit of 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'. Journalists made people aware about clean environment and environmental protection in the society by planting trees. So that people also understand that trees and plants are very important in our life.

Indian Journalist Association National President Seraj Ahmad Quraishi said that nature is also our mother. Unless we protect it, the future of the coming generations will not be safe. He gave an emotional message by planting a tree in the name of his mother. Along with plantation, environmental protection was discussed and it was resolved that every person will definitely plant at least one tree every year.

JKPC Appoints Sheikh Mohammed Imran as State Secretary Organization & PAC Coordinator

*Srinagar, July 28:* Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference on Monday appointed Sheikh Mohammed Imran as the State Secretary Organization and Coordinator of the People's Alliance for Change (PAC).

The appointment, effective immediately, entrusts him with managing and strengthening party operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
