NC MLA Salman Sagar Seeks Strict Action Against IAS Officer Over Alleged Misbehaviour With JKAS Officer

Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, a 2010-batch IAS officer, has reportedly been accused of alleged misconduct towards a JKAS officer during an official meeting. He was arrested on 1 March 2020 in connection with a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the issuance of approximately 2.74 lakh gun licences in Jammu and Kashmir between 2012 and 2016, when he was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara. He was subsequently reinstated in February 2021. In November 2024, the Central Government reportedly granted sanction for his prosecution in connection with the arms licence case. The CBI has also reportedly registered a separate case concerning alleged possession of disproportionate assets against him. The allegations remain subject to the legal process, and their mention should not be construed as a finding of guilt.
