American actor Morgan Freeman once described the Islamic call to prayer, the Adhan (Azaan), as “one of the most haunting and beautiful sounds in the world.”

The remark was made during an episode of the documentary series The Story of God with Morgan Freeman, where he traveled to Cairo, Egypt, to learn about Islamic beliefs and traditions. During his visit, Freeman met with religious scholars and an Imam, gaining a deeper understanding of the significance of the Adhan in the daily lives of Muslims.

Moved by both its melody and meaning, Freeman also attempted to recite the Adhan under the Imam’s guidance, highlighting his appreciation for the spiritual and cultural importance of the call to prayer.

The Qur’an was not sent down simply to be recited - it was revealed to guide, transform, and illuminate lives.

While many strive to beautify their recitation of the Qur’an, its true beauty is found in understanding its message and living by its teachings. The noble Companions of the Prophet ﷺ did not view the Qur’an as words to be read alone; they embraced it as a complete way of life. Every verse strengthened their faith, refined their character, and deepened their trust in Allah.

When a person develops a sincere relationship with Allah through the Qur’an, the burdens of this world begin to lose their grip. Wealth, status, and worldly concerns become insignificant compared to the peace and contentment found in the remembrance of Allah.

Allah ﷻ says:

"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest."
(Qur’an 13:28)

He also says:

"This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you so that they may reflect upon its verses and that people of understanding may take heed."
(Qur’an 38:29)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5027)

And he ﷺ also said:

"The Qur’an will either be a proof for you or against you."
(Sahih Muslim 223)

May Allah make us among those who recite the Qur’an with sincerity, reflect upon its meanings, act upon its guidance, and allow its light to shape our lives. Ameen.

From studying Buddhism and the Bible to embracing the truth of the Holy Qur’an — SubhanAllah.

Meet Prof. James D. Frankel, a man whose journey was shaped by sincere study, reflection, and a relentless search for truth. Rather than accepting beliefs without question, he explored different faiths, examined their teachings, and followed the path that ultimately led him to Islam.

Behind every revert story is a journey of curiosity, sacrifice, and deep personal transformation. What we often see in a short clip is only a glimpse of years spent seeking answers and striving to understand life's greater purpose.

As an Ummah, our responsibility goes beyond celebrating a shahadah. New Muslims deserve support, companionship, and a sense of belonging. A warm salaam, a kind word, or a sincere du'a can make a lasting difference in someone's journey.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The believers, in their mutual love, mercy and compassion, are like one body.”

To Prof. James, we extend our heartfelt welcome. May Allah ﷻ keep him steadfast upon Islam, increase him in beneficial knowledge, and make him a source of guidance and inspiration for others. Ameen.

And to everyone reading this: if you know a new Muslim, reach out today. A simple message or du'a may mean more than you realize.

A voice that echoed through Al-Aqsa Mosque has fallen silent.

Sheikh Walid Siam, a longtime imam of Islam’s third-holiest site, has passed away after a prolonged illness. For years, he led prayers and served worshippers at Al-Aqsa, leaving behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and service.

Muslims across Palestine and around the world are mourning his loss and remembering his contributions to Jerusalem’s sacred sanctuary.

No matter how much wealth, beauty, fame, or influence a person may attain in this world, every soul will ultimately face death. Status, luxury, possessions, and popularity cannot accompany us beyond the grave. Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:

"Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be given your full compensation on the Day of Resurrection."
— Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:185)

This worldly life is temporary. Wealth remains behind, beauty fades, fame is forgotten, but our deeds stay with us. True success belongs to those who remember Allah, establish prayer, seek forgiveness, help others, and strive to live with sincerity and taqwa.

Many people spend years preparing for worldly achievements, yet neglect preparation for the Hereafter—the eternal life that awaits every one of us. Death can arrive unexpectedly, regardless of age, status, or circumstance. Remembering death is not meant to bring despair, but to awaken our hearts and encourage us to return to Allah before it is too late.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

"Remember often the destroyer of pleasures: death."
— Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2307

Before the grave becomes our final dwelling, let us strengthen our faith, protect our prayers, repent sincerely, and fill our lives with righteous deeds. In the end, only our faith and actions will truly matter.
