A flood-like situation was witnessed on the **Manasbal–Barsoo Road** near **Malapora, Sainik School Stop** in Ganderbal after heavy rainfall led to severe waterlogging, disrupting traffic and causing significant inconvenience to commuters, schoolchildren, and local residents.
According to residents, although the accumulated water was eventually cleared, the prolonged waterlogging caused considerable damage to the road. The road surface has reportedly deteriorated, with potholes and weakened sections creating a serious safety hazard for motorists and pedestrians.
Residents have also alleged that the **Sainik School Manasbal Road** was not cleared or properly maintained by the **Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department**, despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities. They claim that blocked drains and the lack of timely maintenance allowed rainwater to accumulate, worsening the situation and resulting in avoidable damage to the road.
Locals have urged the District Administration and the R&B Department to immediately inspect the affected stretch, repair the damaged road, clear the drainage system, and implement permanent flood mitigation measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
At the time of this report, no official statement had been issued by the concerned department regarding the incident.
