😭*Two Minor Children Drown in Irrigation Canal at Goripora Kangan*

Kangan, June 9: Two minor children lost their lives after accidentally slipping into an irrigation canal at Goripora village in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district on Tuesday afternoon.

According to local sources, the incident occurred when the children were near the Baba irrigation canal passing through the village. In a tragic turn of events, both minors slipped and fell into the canal and were swept away by the strong water current.

Soon after the incident, locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After extensive efforts, the bodies of both children were retrieved from the canal. However, they had already drowned before they could be rescued.

The deceased have been identified as Ashiya (4), daughter of Mohammad Amin Lone, and Mohammad Imran (6), son of Mohammad Iqbal Lone, both residents of Goripora Kangan.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings.

*LG Manoj Sinha Honours Asian Nama Editor-in-Chief Ehsaan Yousf at Mega Anti-Drug Padyatra in Ganderbal*

Ganderbal, JUNE 5: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday honoured Asian Namaa Editor-in-Chief Ehsaan Yousf during a Mega Anti-Drug Padyatra organised in Ganderbal under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign.

The padyatra, led by the Lieutenant Governor, witnessed participation from students, government officials, civil society members and local residents, who joined the awareness drive against drug abuse and substance addiction.

The programme was organised to promote the vision of a drug-free society and encourage youth to stay away from narcotics and other harmful substances.

On the occasion, Ehsaan Yousf also secured second position in the Reel Competition held as part of the anti-drug awareness campaign. He was awarded a cash prize and a certificate of appreciation for his contribution towards spreading awareness against substance abuse through digital media platforms.
