Tsering Tharchin Assumes Charge as Accountant General of J&K
Srinagar, Nov 6 : Tsering Tharchin, an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) of the 2007 batch, has taken over as Accountant General of Jammu and Kashmir.
He succeeds Shri K. P. Yadaw, who retired on October 31, 2025, after a distinguished career.
A native of Ladakh, Shri Tharchin completed his schooling in the region and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kashmir.
He has extensive experience auditing government departments, autonomous bodies, PSUs, and local bodies in Jammu and Kashmir. He earlier served as Deputy Accountant General in May 2010 and as Senior Deputy Accountant General in October 2016.
During his tenure with the office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Punjab, he handled compilation, preparation, and submission of state government accounts.
From 2021 to 2024, Shri Tharchin served as Financial Advisor in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), New Delhi, and later as Principal Director in the office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
At the international level, he conducted the Performance Audit of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva on deputation to the United Nations. He was also part of the UN audit team for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan in 2020.
He has led audits of several Indian missions abroad, including the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, the Embassies of India in Riyadh and Baghdad, and Air India offices in Riyadh, Dammam, and Dhahran.
