Panic in Beerwah after a leopard attack turned fatal .Labourer from Uttar Pradesh working at Mohd Altaf Thoker’s brick kiln in Baput, was mauled to death by a leopard. His body was found a short distance from the kiln.
Police reached the spot immediately and shifted the body for medico-legal formalities. Wildlife officials are now expected to survey the area and take measures as fear grips locals

A 6-day nightmare ended in heartbreak today after the body of missing man Mohammad Ashraf of Jawahar Nagar Srinagar was fished out from the raging Lidder River at Aamal, Pahalgam.
Ashraf had vanished 6 days ago, sparking panic and non-stop searches by police, locals & rescue teams. Hope turned to grief when his body was spotted floating in the fast-flowing river this morning.
Police & SDRF teams rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. It’s been sent for medico-legal formalities while police start an inquest to find what led to the death.

ACB said NIT lacked quality specs, tender costs were higher than DPR, and turnover criteria was fixed high to favour one bidder. Prima facie abuse of official position & criminal conspiracy noted. Case filed against then Director Horticulture Kashmir, DLPC & Inspection Committee members, contractor M/S Fruit Master Agro Fresh Pvt. Ltd. & others under J&K Prevention of Corruption Act + RPC 120-B. Further probe on.

JKLCMA Environment : Students Pledge For Kashmir

J&K Lakes Conservation & Management Authority joined hands with Crescent Public School to mark World Environment Day 2026 today.
Event had awareness sessions, environmental presentations, poster-making, and plantation drive to push sustainable practices among students.
Vice Chairman JK LCMA Khurshid Ahmad Shah, JKAS stressed collective action on pollution, climate change & biodiversity loss. He urged youth to protect Kashmir’s lakes, wetlands, forests & water bodies.
Watershed Manager Manzoor Ahmad Bhat also addressed students. Program ended with students taking a pledge for responsible, eco-friendly living.
