The army chief of Uganda, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has demanded two things from Turkey. Kainerugaba's first demand is $1 billion for Uganda's long military contributions in Somalia in combating Islamic militants. The second, which, in all likelihood, was made in jest is, hand over "the most beautiful woman in that country," who Kainerugaba said would be his wife.

While Kainerugaba's demand has attracted backlash, it is not the first time he has made such a bizarre and sexist demand. In 2022, Kainerugaba offered 100 cows to Italy in exchange for marrying its Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.

Wrapped in bloodied bandages, Aline Saeed, seven, barely survived the ​Israeli strike on her home in south Lebanon last week. She was there to bury her father as hopes of ‌a truce spread across the region, but a new strike killed her infant sister and other relatives.
The strike on the Saeed family home in the village of Srifa took place on Wednesday, the first day of a U.S.-Iran ceasefire that many in Lebanon hoped would apply to their country, too. Instead, Israeli strikes killed more than 350 across Lebanon ​and left the Saeed family with four more relatives to bury.

Iran’s Fars news agency is reporting that two oil tankers sailing under Pakistani flags have turned around at the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting they could not make the passage.

The tankers were named Khairpur and Shalamar, the news agency said.

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle, considered one of the greatest vocalists in modern Indian music, has died at the age of 92. The singer was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Saturday after she experienced cardiac and respiratory issues. Sources told HT that the singer had not been keeping well for the last few months and was brought to the hospital in a critical state. She was admitted to the ICU on Saturday night.
