DIG North Kashmir Visits Kupwara; Reviews Security Preparedness and Counter-Terrorism Measures
Kupwara, Aug 20: Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range (NKR), Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, today visited District Kupwara to review the prevailing security scenario and assess the preparedness of forces on the counter-terrorism front.
During the visit, DIG NKR inspected various operational units and held detailed interactions with SSP Kupwara, Shri Ghulam Jeelani, other officers, and personnel. At the SOG Camp in Lolab, he chaired a Darbar with the forces to listen to their issues and grievances. Several matters related to welfare and operational needs were resolved on the spot, while directions were issued for early redressal of remaining concerns.
On counter-terrorism preparedness, the DIG carried out a comprehensive on-ground assessment to ensure smooth operational functioning. ASP Kupwara, Syed Javid , who also serves as SP Operations, delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting recent threat perceptions, operational strategies, and area domination plans. The session involved threadbare discussions, with emphasis laid on maintaining high operational alertness, intelligence sharing, and coordination among all security stakeholders.
Later, the DIG visited TOB Dardpora Lolab, where he reviewed field deployments in sensitive areas and interacted with officers and jawans. He appreciated their dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Addressing the officers, DIG Maqsood-ul-Zaman underscored the importance of people-friendly policing alongside firm action against anti-peace elements. He also highlighted the role of community engagement, confidence-building measures, and continuous training of personnel to meet evolving security challenges.
The visit reflects the continued efforts of police leadership to motivate forces, strengthen the security grid, and ensure operational readiness in District Kupwara.
