DM Baramulla Minga Sherpa Chairs 21st NCORD Meeting, Directs Strict Anti-Drug Measures

Baramulla, October 22:District Magistrate Baramulla, Minga Sherpa,today chaired the 21st meeting of the Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Baramulla to review the district’s ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and strengthen enforcement under the NDPS Act.

During the meeting, the DC directed all law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of NDPS laws and to intensify awareness programmes on the harmful effects of drug abuse, particularly among youth and students. He also emphasized taking strict action against persons found smoking in public places, especially around educational institutions.

The DC further instructed for 100% installation of CCTV cameras in all educational institutions and identified hotspots to enhance monitoring and surveillance. He also directed the Police, Revenue, and Excise Departments to carry out joint drives for the destruction of bhang (cannabis) cultivation, ensuring close coordination for effective results.

While reviewing overall progress under NCORD, DM Minga Sherpa stressed the importance of community participation, urging Public representatives, religious leaders, and educational institutions to actively support the administration’s anti-drug initiatives.

The meeting was attended by ADC Sopore,ADC Baramulla, SDM Uri, SDM Pattan, ASP Baramulla and representatives from Excise, Education, Health, Social Welfare, and other concerned departments, who shared updates on ongoing anti-narcotic measures in the district.

KNS Editor-in-Chief visits residence to offer condolences.

Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): The father of Senior urdu Editor of Kashmir News Service (KNS), Syed Aijaz Nagbal, passed away at his residence in Tral on Monday.

KNS Editor-in-Chief Mohd Aslam Bhat along with Executive Editor Tassaduq Rashid and General manager Abrar Nabi visited the residence of Syed Aijaz Nagbal in Tral to express deep sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved family.

They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear the irreparable loss.

Hundreds of mourners, including journalists, relatives, and locals, participated in the funeral prayers, seeking divine mercy for the deceased.

“May Almighty Allah grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give courage to the family to endure this painful loss,” Bhat said.(KNS)

Baramulla Police Observes Police Commemoration Day 2025 at DPL Baramulla

Baramulla, October 21: Baramulla Police on Tuesday observed Police Commemoration Day 2025 at the District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla, paying rich tributes to the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The commemorative function witnessed the participation of contingents from District Police Baramulla, 53 Bn CRPF, 2nd Bn SSB, IRP 13th Bn, and Samman Toli, who took part in the ceremonial parade led by Shri Umar Urfan, JKPS, DySP PC Pattan.

DIG NKR Baramulla, Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS took the salute at the parade. On behalf of SSP Baramulla, AdSP Baramulla Shri Hariprasad K.K., IPS, read out the roll of honour, recalling the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel across the nation.

A wreath-laying ceremony followed at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial, where DIG NKR Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, AdSP Baramulla Shri Hariprasad K.K., IPS, ASP Hqrs Baramulla Ms. Neha Jain, IPS, and other senior officers from the Police, Army, and CAPFs paid floral tributes to the fallen heroes.

On the occasion, the DIG NKR distributed tokens of gratitude and artistic sketches of martyrs among their Next of Kin (NoKs), listened to their concerns, and assured timely redressal. Cash rewards were also presented to meritorious students from martyrs’ families in recognition of their academic achievements.

The solemn event concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and the well-being of the families of the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
