But here’s the twist: it’s not sacred cows but their less-hallowed cousins, buffaloes, that are turned into profit. While street vigilantes defend vegetarianism with violence and sentiment, the export lanes hum with cold chains of meat shipments destined for Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

What’s illegal to eat at home becomes acceptable to sell outside—because money, it seems, trumps morality when no one is watching.

Dear and Indian Embassy Tehran,

Greetings from the land of unexpected fireworks (not the festive kind). Last night’s “surprise show” left us Kashmiri students hiding under beds with our Google Maps open, just in case we had to sprint to the nearest embassy. Spoiler: still no response from your side.

While we’re all for international exposure, we didn’t sign up for a live-action thriller. Our families are panicking, our noodles are running out, and frankly, we miss dal-chawal. Please save us before we start naming the cockroaches in our hostel.

Hoping you read this before Netflix makes a documentary about us.
