INDIAN ARMY MOUNTAINEERING EXPEDITION HONOURS GALWAN HEROES

To promote border area tourism in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Indian Army conducted a mountaineering expedition to Mount Shahi Kangri and Mount Silver Peak. Flagged off on 28 May 2025 and culminated on 18 June 2025 by Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, GOC Fire and Fury Corps, the expedition honoured the valour of Ladakhi soldiers who laid down their lives during the Galwan conflict.

Comprising 28 highly skilled personnel trained in ice and rock craft, the team demonstrated exceptional endurance and technical prowess in high-altitude mountaineering. The peaks, located in the Karakoram Range southwest of the Depsang Plains, are snowbound year-round and known for their extreme terrain and climate.

Approaching from the southeast, the team chose a shorter but more hazardous route, navigating crevasses, cornices, and glaciers—underscoring both the physical and mental resilience of the soldiers. The expedition not only showcased military excellence but also highlighted the region’s potential for adventure tourism.

*Anantnag Police Attached Properties Worth ₹40 lakhs in Ongoing Crackdown Against Drug Peddling*

Anantnag, June 18, 2025:
In a sustained effort to combat the menace of drug trafficking in the district, Anantnag Police has taken stringent action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by attaching properties belonging to individuals involved in narcotics-related cases.

In connection with FIR No. 175/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bijbehara, the residential property of Mohd Afzal Bhat, son of Sanaullah Bhat, resident of Moomin Danji, Bijbehara, has been formally attached. The action was taken as part of legal proceedings to disrupt the illicit gains from drug-related activities.

Additionally, in another significant development, a Hyundai Creta vehicle bearing registration number JK02CX-6665, owned by Sabzar Ahmad Das, son of Nazir Ahmad Das, resident of Wagihama, Bijbehara, has been seized in connection with FIR No. 102/2025 registered under Sections 8/20, 29, and 27-A of the NDPS Act at the same police station.

The combined estimated market value of the attached residential house and the seized vehicle is approximately ₹40 lakhs.

Anantnag Police reiterates its firm commitment to continue the crackdown on drug peddlers and to take all necessary legal actions to dismantle the drug network in the district. The public is once again urged to come forward with any information related to drug peddling and help make the district a drug-free zone.

INDIAN ARMY CONDUCTS EXPEDITION TO TOLOLING TOP
AS A RUN UP TO 26TH ANNIVERSARY OF KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

In a solemn tribute to the gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the historic Battle of Tololing in the Kargil War of 1999, the Indian Army's ‘Forever in Operations Division’ conducted a commemorative expedition to Tololing Peak on 11th June 2025. The expedition, flagged off from the revered Kargil War Memorial in Dras, paid homage to the unwavering spirit and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers who recaptured strategic heights from enemy force, marking a crucial turning point in the conflict.

A team of 30 brave soldiers from various units that actively participated in the Battle of Tololing climbed the Tololing Peak and hoisted the Tricolour, paying tribute to bravehearts of Operation VIJAY. The Indian Air Force also extended its support to this endeavour and fielded Officers and Airmen for the said expedition, exemplifying the spirit of synergy and jointmanship that defines the Indian Armed Forces.

As the Nation looks up to 26th Anniversary of Operation VIJAY, this expedition stands as a poignant reminder of the valour, patriotism and selfless service that epitomise the Indian Armed Forces.

This expedition is more than just an adventure, it is a journey of remembrance, reflection and reverence, aimed at inspiring future generations with the stories of courage and sacrifice that shaped the nation's history.
