Dozens Join PDP from Langate Constituency, Kupwara District

Srinagar, October 22:

Dozens of workers from the National Conference (NC), Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), and People's Conference (PC) from Langate constituency, Kupwara district, joined the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presence of Party President Ms. Mehbooba M***i at the party headquarters in Srinagar.

The new entrants were accompanied by Advocate Wahid Bashir Mir.
Welcoming them into the party fold, Ms. Mehbooba M***i expressed hope that their joining would further strengthen the PDP’s mission of safeguarding the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The newly joined members expressed their full faith in the leadership and vision of Ms. Mehbooba M***i, affirming their commitment to work for peace, justice, and the welfare of the people under the banner of PDP.

Police Commemoration Day Parade – 2025 observed with reverence at DPL Anantnag Anantnag Police

Anantnag, October 21:

District Police Anantnag today observed Police Commemoration Day – 2025 at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag with deep respect and gratitude towards the brave police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The parade was held in a dignified manner where DIG south Kashmir Range, Shri Javed Matoo, IPS and SSP Anantnag, Shri Amrit Pal Singh, IPS took the salute. The parade contingents from CRPF and District Police participated in the ceremony, led by Parade Commander DySP Atti-ur-Rehman, JKPS.
On the occasion, SSP Anantnag read out the Roll of Honour, recalling the names and supreme sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the security and integrity of the nation. A two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the martyrs and to honour their selfless devotion to duty.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Sh Fakhrudin Hamid-IAS ,officers from Police, CRPF and Civil Administration, and families of martyrs. Floral tributes were paid at the Martyrs’ Memorial, DPL Anantnag through a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, marking a heartfelt tribute to the fallen heroes.
As part of the day’s observance, a blood donation camp was also organised at DPL Anantnag. DIG SKR and SSP Anantnag led by example by donating blood along with a large number of officers and officials of District Police Anantnag.
To honour the families of martyrs, gifts were distributed as a token of respect and appreciation for their invaluable contribution and sacrifices.
District Police Anantnag remains committed to upholding the ideals of courage, service, and dedication exemplified by the martyrs and continues to draw inspiration from their legacy.

Two Long-Absconding NDPS Offenders Arrested in Kulgam evading arrest since 2005

Kulgam, October 17

Continuing its efforts to bring absconders to justice, Kulgam Police today arrested two individuals who had been evading arrest for years in NDPS Act cases.

The arrested persons have been identified as:
Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Qadir Sheikh, resident of Nassu Badrahgund, who was wanted in FIR No. 107/2005 under Sections 15/18 NDPS Act of Police Station Qazigund. The accused was arrested from near J&K Bank Qazigund after evading arrest for about 20 years.
Bilal Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh. Nabi Ganie, resident of Lalen Ganoor Kulgam, presently residing at Levdora near Railway Bridge Qazigund, who was wanted in FIR No. 223/2006 under Sections 15/18 NDPS Act of Police Station Qazigund. The accused was absconding for around 19 years.

Both the accused were evading arrest since long and have now been taken into custody. Their arrest reflects the sustained efforts of Kulgam Police in tracking down long-term absconders involved in NDPS-related offences.

SSP Kulgam, Shri Anayat Choudhary (IPS), while appreciating the teams said that Kulgam Police is committed to bringing all offenders, especially those involved in drug trafficking, to justice. The action against absconders will continue to ensure that no one evades the law.
