Ramban Bus Accident: One Dead, Dozens Injured
A passenger bus travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu met with an accident near Marog in Ramban district on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at around 8:50 am today.
According to reports, the West Bengal-registered bus went out of control and collided with a hillside. A woman passenger, identified as Jamuna from West Bengal, died in the accident.
Rescue teams, police and CRPF personnel immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital Ramban. Some critically injured passengers were referred to GMC Jammu for specialised treatment.
In a separate incident, a Quick Response Team vehicle carrying police and CRPF personnel, which was reportedly heading towards the accident site, also met with an accident near Keela Mor. Several personnel were injured.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed condolences over the loss of life and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured. Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh also spoke with the Ramban Deputy Commissioner and took stock of the rescue and medical arrangements.

7-year-old girl injured in leopard attack in Kulgam

Kulgam, Oct 03 : A seven-year-old girl was injured after being attacked by a leopard in the Damhal Hanji Pora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the girl sustained injuries in the leopard attack in Damhal Hanji Pora, Kulgam.

He said the girl was shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for specialised medical care and identified her as Shahida Akhtar (7), daughter of Rafia Kalas, a resident of DH Pora, Kulgam.

Meanwhile, the incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, while locals have urged the authorities to take immediate measures to prevent further leopard attacks.—(KNO)

Man injured, kitchen damaged in gas cylinder explosion in Kupwara

Kupwara, Oct 03 : A man was injured after a gas cylinder exploded accidentally at his residence in Bandi Haril area of Handwara in Kupwara district on Saturday, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the gas cylinder exploded accidentally at Bandi Haril, Handwara.

He said the house owner sustained injuries in the incident and was shifted to GMC Handwara for medical treatment. He was later identified as Mohd Rafiq Bherwal, son of Ab Jameel.

Meanwhile, the official said the incident caused partial damage to the kitchen of the house, while an investigation has been taken up.—(KNO)
