A policeman was found de@d under mysterious c¡rcumstances inside a hotel room in Srinagar on Friday afternoon, officials said.

The de¢eased has been identified as Constable Mohammad Iqbal Lone, son of Abdul Rehman Lone, a resident of Kupwara. He was posted in Baramulla and had checked into Heena Hotel at Court Road, Amirakadal, on Thursday night, staying in room number 107.According to hotel staff, when Lone did not w@ke up until around 12:50 pm, they went to check his room and discovered him lying unc0nscious. Police were immediately informed, and he was later declared de@d.
Authorities said that proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of de@th, and the b0dy will be handed over to his family after medic0-legal formalities.

A couple from Umerabad HMT lost their l¡ves after being hlt by a vehicle near Noora Hospital in Srinagar, officials said on Thursday.

The couple was hlt by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road on Thursday evening.

He said both were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, where the woman dled soon after and her husband, who was crltically lnjured, su¢¢umbed to his lnjuries this morning.

The de¢eased have been identified as Fahmeeda (50) and her husband Bashir Ahmad (55)—both residents of Umerabad HMT.

Police said the driver was arre sted and vehicle has been seized, while further investigation has been taken up.

A wedding celebration in Panzgam village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district turned into a scene of grief and m0urning after a road accldent claimed the l¡fe of a young man.

The de¢eased, identified as Taufeeq Riyaz Mir, met with a fatal accldent near Tourist Hut Panzgam on the Kralpora-Karnah road while driving a Maruti car that coll¡ded with a minibus. Taufeeq was reportedly on his way to bring essential items for his aunt’s wedding.

Both Taufeeq and another youth, Javaid, were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kralpora and later referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar due to the severity of their lnjuries. However, Taufeeq suc¢umbed on the way, leaving his family devastated.

A 14-year-0ld girl l0st her life while several others were lnjured in a road acc¡dent at Jogi Lanker area of Rainawari Srinagar on Wednesday.

Reports said the mishap took place when an Eco vehicle, driven by Mohd Ismail Paloo of Kalwal Mohalla Rainawari, hlt a group of children.

The lnjured were shifted to JLNM Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared one of them, identified as Madiha, daughter of Farooq Ahmad Bhat of Gurpora, de@d.

A 72-year-old tourist from Kerala was found unc0nscious in a Rajbagh hotel area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district on Tuesday evening.

The tourist, identified as PJ Joseph, son of Josipah, resident of Kerala, was found unc0nscious at a hotel in Rajbagh Srinagar.

He was immediately taken to SMHS Hospital where doctors declared him brought de@d.

The b0dy has been kept for medic0-legal formalities, while police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigation initiated.

An electrician working for a private company was ele¢trocuted to de@th while fixing a smart meter in the Yaripora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Tuesday.

He suddenly came into contact with a live wire. He was immediately shifted to GMC Anantnag in cr¡tical condition, from where he was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.

However, doctors there declared him brought de@d. The de¢eased has been identified as Sadiq Ahmad Badana(19) son of Bashir Ahmad Badana resident of Molabal Handwara.

A flre broke out in Pamposh Colony area of Palpora Noor Bagh in Srinagar on Saturday, d@maging several residential structures.

Soon after the lncident flre tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.

District Police Ramban have cracked a sensational triple blind mu®der case in record time after three de@d b0dies were recovered from under a culvert on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at Rattanbass, Banihal.
Police said that on 8 September, at around 4:00 pm, three unidentified b0dies — a woman aged about 30 years, a nine-year-0ld girl and a five-year-0ld boy — were found under a culvert on NH-44. The v¡ctims bore visible lnjury marks and elongated cloth pieces t¡ed around their necks.Following the recovery, FIR No. 95/2025 under Section 103 BNS was registered at Police Station Banihal. A police team led by SDPO Banihal and SHO Banihal, along with FSL experts and a cr¡me photographer, examined the cr¡me scene and collected evidence. The b0dies were later shifted to SDH Banihal for p0stmortem.
The de¢eased were identified as Dhanmati Devi, wife of late Nand Kishore, resident of Sugauli, East Champaran, Bihar, her daughter Suhani Kumari, aged 9, and son Yash Kumar, aged 5.A Special Investigation Team headed by SDPO Banihal was constituted to investigate the case. Using both technical and human intelligence and after sustained efforts, the team tracked and apprehended the suspect, identified as Anil Kumar, son of Sudhir Sahni, resident of West Champaran, Bihar. He was arr€sted from Mir Bazar in Qazigund, Kulgam district. He Accepted his involvement in the ¢rime and Police is Investigating more details.
