JKNC Must Answer for Its Unfulfilled Election Promises: Syed Shafat Qazmi
Bandipora, Jammu & Kashmir:
Senior Leader and District President of the Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party, Syed Shafat Qazmi, has questioned the elected JKNC government over what he described as its failure to fulfil key promises made to the people of Jammu & Kashmir during the Assembly elections.
Qazmi said that the people were promised 12 free LPG cylinders annually, 200 units of free electricity every month, and one lakh jobs for unemployed youth, besides several other commitments outlined in the party’s election manifesto. He questioned why these promises remain unfulfilled despite the government being in office.
He further stated that the promises regarding the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A, which were presented as major election commitments, have now given way to a different political narrative focused on statehood.
“The people of Jammu & Kashmir voted with hope and expectation. Election manifestos are a commitment to the public, not merely campaign slogans. The government must explain the status of every promise it made before seeking the people’s trust,” Qazmi said.
He added that unemployment continues to affect thousands of educated youth, rising living costs continue to burden ordinary families, and many citizens are still waiting for the relief measures that were promised during the election campaign.
Qazmi urged the government to place public welfare above political rhetoric and present a transparent roadmap on the implementation of its manifesto commitments.
“The people of Jammu & Kashmir deserve accountability, transparency, and good governance. They deserve results—not repeated promises. The time has come for the government to answer the people and honour the commitments it made,” he said.
