Cloudburst Triggers Flash Floods In Nallah Avoora pahalgam Surge In Nallah arpath Shangus ; No Casualties Reported

Pahalgam, July 11 (GNS): A cloudburst in the upper reaches of Chitergul on Saturday triggered flash floods in Nallah Arpat Chittergul Shangus , while another cloudburst led to a sudden surge in Nallah Avoora in Pahalgam.

Officials told GNS that all concerned departments have been alerted and are on high alert. Rescue and monitoring teams have been deployed in vulnerable areas to assess the situation.

In Pahalgam, tourists remained safe inside a hotel along the Pahalgam shore after the surge in Nallah Avoora created panic in the area. Authorities said the situation is being continuously monitored and damage assessment is underway.

There were no reports of any loss of life or property damage till the filing of this report.

The administration has urged residents and visitors to stay away from the banks of nallahs and rivers and to take necessary safety measures while moving anywhere close to Nallah Arpat. People have also been asked to follow official safety advisories in view of the inclement weather.

SPO Disengaged In Anantnag For Skipping Amarnath Yatra Duty

Anantnag, July 09 (GNS): Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, has ordered the disengagement of a Special Police Officer for dereliction of duty during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.

In a handout to GNS, police said that the SPO, Shabir Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Hamid Ganie, resident of Primegam Hiller Shahabad, Dooru, was detailed for SANJY-2026 deployment. Despite being nominated and directed to report, he failed to join his assigned place of duty without any valid justification or prior permission.

Taking serious note of the negligence, SSP Anantnag ordered his immediate disengagement from service.

Anantnag Police said discipline, dedication and professionalism are paramount during high-profile security operations like the Amarnath Yatra. It reiterated that any act of negligence or dereliction of duty will be dealt with firmly as per rules, while sincere and dedicated personnel will continue to be encouraged and appreciated.(GNS)
