Driving Trial Test Scheduled for Tomorrow Cancelled in Anantnag

Anantnag, May 13 (KF): The Office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag has informed all concerned candidates that the driving trial test scheduled for May 14, 2026, has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.

According to the public notice issued by the ARTO office, the fresh date for the driving trial test will be notified separately. (KF)

Anantnag Police Strikes Narcotics Ecosystem: 12 Kanals Forest Land Worth ₹50+ Lakh Retrieved From Notorious Drug Peddlers in Kokernag

Anantnag, May 13: In continuation of its sustained crackdown against narcotics networks and criminal elements, Anantnag Police along with Revenue Department, and Forest Department carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Watnad, Kokernag.

The joint operation specifically targeted individuals involved in various NDPS cases who had illegally encroached upon government forest land. During the drive, three encroachers were identified and a total of 12 kanals of illegally occupied forest land was successfully retrieved. The estimated government valuation of the retrieved land exceeds ₹50 lakh.

The details of the encroachers are as follows:

1. Sabzar Tantray S/O Abdul Gani Tantray R/O Angatnad, Watnad Kokernag — 4 Kanals

2. Farooq Ahmad Sheikh S/ O Abdul Khaliq Sheikh R/O Watnad, Kokernag — 4 Kanals

3. Sajad Ahmad Sheikh S/O Abdul Aziz Sheikh R/O Watnad, Kokernag — 4 Kanals

Following the operation, the entire retrieved land was cleared of encroachments and formally handed over to the Forest Department.

Anantnag Police Solves Theft Case in Record Time; Stolen Electronic Items Recovered, One Accused Apprehended

Anantnag: May 13: In a significant breakthrough, Anantnag Police successfully solved a theft case reported at Government Medical College, Dialgam, involving the theft of a desktop computer, a high-end laptop, and other electronic accessories.

Upon receipt of the complaint, Police Post Dialgam initiated prompt enquiry and conducted a meticulous investigation.

During the course of enquiry, bank transaction details of several suspects were obtained from the concerned banks and were thoroughly analyzed. Based on the analysis, transactions of two persons were found suspicious, which led the investigating team towards the accused persons.

During sustained questioning, one suspect identified as Fahad Bilal S/O Bilal Ahmad R/O Bangdar Danter confessed his involvement in the commission of the crime along with another accused namely Aazan Bhat R/O Moominabad.

On the disclosure of the accused, police recovered all the stolen electronic items including the desktop computer, high-end laptop, and other accessories.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 142/2026 under sections 331, 305(E) BNS already stands registered at Police Station concerned, and further investigation is in progress.

Anantnag Police remains committed to safeguarding public property and ensuring swift action against those involved in criminal activities.

Motor Vehicles Department Conducts Enforcement Drive in Budgam, Recommends Suspension of 18 Driving Licences

Budgam, May 12 (KF): The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Enforcement Squad, headed by Mubashir Jan, carried out a comprehensive enforcement and inspection drive across Budgam district in coordination with ARTO Budgam to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with transport regulations.

During the drive, officials conducted technical inspections of commercial and passenger vehicles, checked tempo travellers operating on hill roads, inspected All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), verified school buses for fitness and safety compliance, and examined tippers for overloading and mechanical safety violations. Authorities also inspected Tavera vehicles operating as public transport vehicles.

According to the report, 18 driving licences were recommended for suspension, five vehicles were seized, and challans amounting to ₹1.65 lakh are expected to be imposed.
Officials stated that the drive aimed to reduce road accidents and traffic violations, enforce vehicle fitness and permit conditions, ensure the safety of school children through strict bus inspections, and prevent overloading and unsafe operations on hilly roads.

During inspections, the enforcement squad observed several violations, including improper documentation, mechanical deficiencies, permit irregularities, unsafe passenger carriage practices, defective lighting systems, and other safety violations in commercial passenger vehicles. Special focus was laid on vehicles operating in hilly terrain due to the increased risks associated with overspeeding, overloading, and poor vehicle maintenance.

The department reiterated its commitment towards transparent enforcement, public safety, and safer transport systems across Jammu and Kashmir, urging transport operators and vehicle owners to maintain proper documentation and vehicle fitness to avoid legal action during future inspections. (KF)

Driving Trial Test for May 13 Deferred in Anantnag

Anantnag, May 12 (KF): The Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Anantnag has postponed the driving trial test that was scheduled to take place on May 13, 2026, citing unavoidable circumstances.

As per the official notification issued by the ARTO office, a new date for the trial test will be announced separately.

Applicants have been requested to remain connected with the department for further information and updates regarding the revised schedule.

Apni Party Additional General Secretary Hilal Ahmad Shah Visits Darul Uloom Fire Tragedy Site at Mattan Adda; Expresses Profound Grief

Anantnag May, 12: Apni Party Additional General Secretary, Er Hilal Shah, today visited Mattan Adda at Faizane Baba Hyder Reshi (Darul Uloom) to express his deepest condolences and assess the aftermath of a devastating fire incident that struck the religious institution. The tragic incident claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy and left two others injured.

During his visit, Shah met with the local residents, and the administration of the Darul Uloom to extend his unwavering solidarity during this hour of immense grief.

Expressing his profound sorrow over the incident, the Apni Party leader stated that words fall short to describe the pain of losing a young soul in such a devastating manner. He shared that his heart goes out to the parents and family members of the 12-year-old boy whose life was cut tragically short. He further emphasized that the Apni Party stands firmly with the grieving family and the Darul Uloom administration in this moment of unimaginable sorrow.

Shah offered special prayers for peace to the departed soul and prayed to the Almighty to grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. He also expressed his deep concern for the two individuals injured in the fire, praying for their swift and complete recovery.

Furthermore, the Apni Party Additional General Secretary strongly urged the district administration to intervene promptly. He appealed to the authorities to provide immediate and adequate ex-gratia relief to the family of the deceased child and to ensure the highest quality of free medical treatment and care for those injured in the incident. Additionally, he requested that the administration extend necessary financial assistance to the management of Faizane Baba Hyder Reshi (Darul Uloom) to facilitate the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure.

Concluding his visit, party leader assured the locals that the Apni Party will continue to support them and will raise the matter with the relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary aid is delivered without delay.
