Sonamarg Police Conduct Surprise Raids on SIM Card Vendors to Curb Misuse

Ganderbal, Nov 7:
In a decisive step towards curbing the misuse of SIM cards and ensuring strict compliance with verification norms, the Sonamarg Police, led by SHO Afaq Majid, conducted surprise inspections at several SIM card vendor outlets across Sonamarg on Friday.

The operation, carried out under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), aimed to verify the authenticity of SIM issuance processes and detect any instances of fraudulent or unauthorized activations that could potentially be exploited for unlawful activities.

During the checks, police team meticulously examined customer verification records, sale registers, and other documentation maintained by the vendors to ensure adherence to established telecom guidelines.

Officials said the drive was part of an ongoing effort to strengthen surveillance over the mobile network ecosystem and to prevent anti-social elements from exploiting communication channels for criminal purposes.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Ganderbal Police stated that such surprise inspections will continue in the future to maintain transparency and accountability among SIM card sellers and service providers in the district.
