The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has appointed selectors for the 2025-26 season. Here are the key appointments:

Senior Men's Selection Committee
Chairperson:Sarabjeet Singh, a highly experienced First Class cricketer with 91 Ranji Trophy, 72 List A, and 7 T20 matches under his belt.
Members:Dhruv Mahajan and Arshad Bhat.

Junior Men's Selection Committee
Chairperson:Arun Sharma.
Members:Samiullah Beigh, Jagtar Singh, and Vikrant Taggar.

Senior Women's Selection Committee
Chairperson:Ankita Jalla.
Members:Anuradha Sharma and Masrat Ahad.

Junior Women's Selection Committee
Chairperson:Pratibha Bhasin.
Members:Payal Chaudhary, Nusrat Jan, and Hinan Maqbool.

These appointments were made based on the recommendations of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which includes Abdul Qayoom, Vidhya Bhaskar, and Meenu Singh Slathia. 1st National Camel Racing Championship 2025 Concludes Successfully at Pushkar, Rajasthan on 6th July 2025.

Pushkar, Rajasthan: The 1st National Camel Racing Championship 2025 was held on 6th July 2025 with great enthusiasm and grandeur at the iconic Pushkar Ground, Rajasthan. The historic event marked a milestone in promoting and celebrating India’s traditional and emerging desert sports, with 50 skilled participants, both men and women, representing eight states across the country.

The championship was jointly organized by the Camelids Sports India Federation and the Rajasthan Camel Racing Association, with the aim of reviving and institutionalizing camel racing as a recognized national sport.

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries. Shri Suresh Singh Rawat, Cabinet Minister for Water Resources Development, served as the Chief Guest, lending his support to this vibrant cultural and sporting initiative. Other notable guests included:
• President, Camelids Sports India Federation
• Dr. Khanhukhan Budhwali, Chairman, Waqf Board Rajasthan
• Govind Upadhyaya, State General Secretary, Vipra Foundation
• Shankar Gora, Chairman, Rajasthan Camel Association
• Arfan Khan, President, Rajasthan Camel Racing Association
• Ram Nivas Devasi, General Secretary, Rajasthan Camel Racing Association

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Suresh Singh Rawat praised the efforts of the organizers and highlighted the significance of camel sports in preserving Rajasthan’s cultural legacy and promoting rural livelihoods.

This championship also formed a central attraction during the world-renowned Pushkar Camel Fair, which continues to draw tourists and cultural enthusiasts from across the globe. The fair, typically held in November, showcases the vibrant heritage of Rajasthan through events such as camel races, camel beauty contests, folk performances, and local craft exhibitions.

The successful ex*****on of this national event reflects the growing interest in traditional sports and paves the way for greater recognition and institutional support for camel racing across India.

Poonch Boosts Grassroots Sports with Equipment Distribution & Felicitation Ceremony! 🌟
In a significant move to bolster sports development, District Development Commissioner Poonch, Sh. Vikas Kundal, today distributed essential sports equipment to various Khelo India Coaching Centres across District Poonch. The ceremony, held at the Indoor Sports Complex at Sports Stadium Poonch, saw equipment for Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Badminton, and Boxing being handed over, providing a major uplift to local athletes and training programs.
This initiative was driven by the proactive efforts of Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Ms. Nusrat Gul, who ensured the necessary equipment was provided to strengthen the Khelo India programs in the region.
The event was smoothly coordinated by Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Incharge Manager, Sports Stadium Poonch, whose request led DDC Sh. Vikas Kundal to personally distribute the equipment. Sh. Kundal reiterated the administration's strong commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and nurturing local talent.

The ceremony also proudly felicitated athletes who brought laurels to Poonch by winning medals at the 68th National School Games in Delhi:
