Bharat Jodo Party State President Irfan Check Visits Baba Fareed Shrine, Raises Road & Tourism Concerns
Uri, August 9: Bharat Jodo Party J&K State President Irfan Check today visited the historic Baba Fareed Shrine and interacted with local residents, listening to their concerns and grievances.
During his visit, Irfan Check urged the concerned authorities to pay immediate attention to the condition of the Baba Fareed Shrine road and other basic facilities in the area, so that local residents and visiting devotees do not face difficulties in the future.
He appealed to the J&K Government, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and MLA Uri to take necessary measures for the development and improvement of the road and surrounding infrastructure.
Irfan Check also highlighted the importance of promoting tourism in Kashmir, stating that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have immense potential in the tourism sector. He called upon the youth and people to focus on tourism, development and peace.
“The people of Kashmir want tourism, development and opportunities. Kashmir should be known for its natural beauty and hospitality, not terrorism. We should promote tourism and create better opportunities for our people,” Irfan Check said.
He further emphasized that improving infrastructure around religious and tourist destinations can help boost local tourism and provide economic opportunities to the people.
During the interaction, local residents apprised him of various issues concerning the area, which he assured would be taken up with the concerned authorities.

Shahr e Khaas Literary & Cultural Welfare Society & Angel's Cultural Academy Organize Free Eye Screening Camp in Arizal Budgam.

Arizal Budgam ,08 August 2026– In a remarkable collaboration aimed at improving community health, Shahr e Khaas Literary & Cultural Welfare Society , Angel's Cultural Academy,Incentive foster foundation & Candles in partnership with Eye Centre for Sight Fazili Eye Care Centre, Srinagar conducted a Free Eye Screening Camp at Arizal Budgam. The camp saw an overwhelming participation from the local community, especially senior citizens, who took full advantage of the opportunity to receive free eye checkups and consultations.

The event was organized with the primary goal of providing essential eye care services to those in need, ensuring that vision-related issues are addressed at an early stage. Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shera, the esteemed President & Founder of both Shahr e Khaas Literary & Cultural Welfare Society and Angel’s Cultural Academy, expressed his commitment to continuing such initiatives in the future. He stated, “This eye screening camp is just one of the many efforts we are undertaking to improve the well-being of our society. We are dedicated to organizing similar camps in the future for the benefit of our community.”

The camp was a huge success, with several senior citizens benefiting from free screenings and expert consultations.

“We believe in the power of community collaboration. It is only through such collective efforts that we can ensure the health and happiness of our people,” Dr. Shera added.

Severe Landslide in Sarouti Jabran of Mendhar, School and Several Houses Collapse, Remaining Structures Developing Cracks

MENDHAR// A severe landslide has caused widespread damage in Sarouti Jabran village of Sub-Division Mendhar, where a school and several houses have already collapsed, while cracks are gradually developing in many of the remaining houses.
According to local residents, the landslide had been moving slowly for the past several days, but the situation has now become extremely serious as the ground continues to slide. The entire settlement is reportedly under threat, with fears that more houses may collapse in the coming days.
The affected residents are living in fear and uncertainty, particularly due to the continuous movement of the land and the increasing cracks appearing in their houses.
The residents have appealed to the Government and local administration to immediately assess the situation and take urgent measures to shift the affected families to a safe location to prevent any loss of life.
They have also appealed to all political leaders and public representatives of Mendhar to come forward and extend every possible assistance to the affected families during this difficult time.
The residents have urged the administration to send an expert team to the spot on an emergency basis, conduct a detailed assessment of the affected area, and make immediate arrangements for the safe relocation of the entire vulnerable settlement.
