Major Tragedy Averted in Shimshipora Tachloo, Kulgam After Tree Falls on HT Power Line
A major tragedy was narrowly averted in the Shimshipora-Tachloo area of Kulgam after a large eucalyptus tree fell on a High Tension (HT) power line. The incident caused all three power lines to burn out, while the tree itself also caught fire.
According to local residents, the situation could have turned disastrous if any of the live wires had come into contact with water in the agricultural fields. With the farming season currently at its peak, thousands of farmers and laborers were working in waterlogged paddy fields at the time, putting many lives at potential risk.
Residents have urged the Power Development Department (PDD) and concerned authorities to immediately identify and remove dangerous trees located near power lines to prevent such incidents in the future. They questioned why preventive measures are not being taken before a tragedy occurs.
