Contractors Association Celebrates 80th Independence Day at Kokernag

Kokernag, August 15: The Contractors Association of PWD R&B Division Vailoo celebrated the 80th Independence Day at Kokernag with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm.
Association members participated in the celebrations and reaffirmed their commitment to the nation and the values of unity, integrity and development. Association President Imteyaz Ahmad took the salute during the ceremony, adding to the patriotic fervour of the occasion.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the association, who extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of Independence Day.

Kokernag, August 15: On the directions of AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Youth Congress Kokernag President Haji Showkat Ahmad Tantray, along with a delegation of Youth Congress leaders, today visited the cloudburst-affected families in Gawran, Kokernag, to express solidarity and condolences following the tragic cloudburst and lightning incident.
The delegation comprised Senior Youth Congress Leader Mohammad Numan Chowdhary, Youth Leader Mehmood Raina, Hilal Mir, Tariq Ahmad Mir, along with several other Youth Congress leaders and members.
The delegation met the bereaved families and expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of two young lives. The leaders also enquired about the well-being of the two youths who sustained injuries in the incident and prayed for their speedy recovery.
Haji Showkat Ahmad Tantray and the accompanying Youth Congress leaders expressed deep sorrow over the loss of young lives and assured the affected families of their solidarity and support during this difficult period.
The delegation urged the district administration to provide all possible assistance, timely compensation and relief to the bereaved families and injured persons. They also appealed to the administration to ensure continued support and timely assistance to all those affected by the tragic incident.

80th Independence Day: DC Anantnag hoists National Flag at DC Office, pays tributes to freedom fighters.

ANANTNAG, AUGUST 15:

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, a celebratory function was held today at the DC Office Anantnag with great spirit, enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The event was atended by senior officers including ADCs, ACR, CPO, CAO, officials, civil society members, social activists, and local residents.

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, hoisted the National Flag and was presented a guard of honour by a contingent of District Police. The function commenced and concluded with fervent renditions of the National Song followed by National Anthem.

Addressing the gathering, the DC paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters, highlighting their sacrifices and struggles for the nation's freedom, as well as the great ideals of our forefathers that have shaped modern-day India.He called upon all participants to give their best in their respective capacities as officials, parents, and civil society members to take the country forward.

Emphasizing that accountability, dedicated public service, and transparency lead to a better tomorrow, he underscored the crucial role of youth in achieving Viksit Bharat 2047. He also stressed the importance of the Nasha Mukt Campaign to protect the youth from drug abuse and ensure the nation's demographic dividend is fully utilized.

On the occasion, an award ceremony was held wherein officers, civil society members, and social activists were felicitated for exemplary public service and outstanding work in their respective fields.

The function highlighted the immense enthusiasm and patriotic spirit of the district.

DOORU, August 15, 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the Sub-Division Headquarters, Dooru.
On the occasion, SDM Dooru Parvaiz Rahim (JKAS) hoisted the National Flag and took the salute during the ceremonial proceedings. The event was attended by officers, officials, security personnel and local residents, who joined the celebrations and paid tribute to the nation’s freedom fighters.
