The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has notified that August 26, 2026 (Wednesday) will be observed as a holiday in place of August 25, which has been declared a non-sitting day for the Hon’ble Court on account of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

Towards evening today, Kralpora in Kupwara district witnessed a short spell of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. The gusty winds blew off roofs of nearby structures, with the debris landing on several vehicles and causing damage to a few of them. The intense weather spell lasted for a short period but caused visible damage in the area.

Two Srinagar Residents Among Three Killed, Three Injured in Jalandhar Road Accident

Punjab/Srinagar, Aug 16 (JKNS): Three persons, including two residents of Srinagar, were killed while three others sustained injuries in a road accident in Bhogpur area of Jalandhar, Punjab, officials said.

Officials told news agency JKNS that, the accident occurred when a speeding Maruti Fronx collided with a roadside vendor before crashing into a tree, resulting in multiple casualties.

The deceased were identified as Ikhlas Qadir, son of Ghulam Qadir, and Aneek Amin, son of Mohammad Amin, both residents of Batamaloo, Srinagar.

The roadside vendor, a Punjab resident, also died in the accident.

Officials said three other occupants of the vehicle, all residents of Srinagar, sustained injuries in the accident and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Further details regarding the condition of the injured and circumstances leading to the accident are awaited.

LG Manoj Sinha Hoists National Flag at Lok Bhavan on Eve of Independence Day

Srinagar, Aug 15th CNS: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar on the eve of the 80th Independence Day.

The flag-hoisting ceremony was held as part of the Independence Day celebrations, with the national tricolour unfurled at the Lok Bhavan premises.
