LG Manoj Sinha Pays Tribute to Martyred Army Officer Lt Beereshwar Goswami

Says Nation Will Forever Remain Indebted to His Supreme Sacrifice in Line of Duty

Srinagar, June 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday paid floral tributes to Army officer Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, who laid down his life while performing operational duties in Rajouri district.

In a post on X , the Lieutenant Governor said he laid a wreath and paid homage to the brave Army officer, describing his sacrifice as a lasting inspiration for the nation.

“Laid a wreath and paid homage to our Army Braveheart Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami. The nation will forever remain indebted to his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. We stand firmly with the family of the martyr in this difficult hour,” LG Sinha wrote.

Lieutenant Goswami lost his life during an operational deployment in Rajouri. His sacrifice has been widely mourned, with tributes pouring in from civil and military authorities.

The Lieutenant Governor also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and assured them of the nation’s unwavering support during their time of grief. (JKNS)

Six Injured After Swift Car Skids Off Road in Shopian's Heerpora

Shopian, June 5: At least six persons sustained injuries after a Swift car skidded off the road and rolled down near Dubjan in the Heerpora area of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday.

A police officer told news agency KNC that the accident occurred at Dubjan under the jurisdiction of Heerpora Police Station when a Swift car bearing registration number JK11D-4114, on its way from Rajouri towards Shopian, lost control and veered off the road.

The vehicle was being driven by Sunil Sharma, son of Ramesh Sharma. Besides the driver, five other occupants were also injured in the mishap.The injured have been identified as Sunil Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Plavi Chandan, Aarav Kumar, Prachi and Dua Kumar.

Soon after the accident, locals and police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital Shopian for treatment.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation.(KNC)

Labour Commissioner reviews Registration of Service Providers for smooth conduct of SANJY-2026 in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: Labour Commissioner, J&K, S. Charandeep Singh undertook an extensive tour of Ganderbal district, including Kangan, Hariganiwan and Sonamarg, to review the registration of service providers for the smooth and successful conduct of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
During the visit, the Labour Commissioner inspected registration camps established by the Labour Department and reviewed the progress achieved in the registration of various service providers associated with the Yatra, including Ponywalas, Palkiwalas, Pithuwalas and Hawkers. He interacted with the registered beneficiaries and assessed the arrangements put in place for facilitating a hassle-free registration process.
A total of 12,545 Service Providers have been registered as of 02-06-2026. The Labour Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved and directed the field officers to further expedite the registration process to ensure that all eligible service providers are covered well before the commencement of the Yatra.
On the occasion, RFID cards were distributed among registered service providers, and the Labour Commissioner directed the field functionaries to ensure the timely distribution of RFID cards to all registered beneficiaries. He emphasized that RFID-enabled registration is essential for efficient management, safety and seamless coordination during the pilgrimage.
S. Charandeep Singh stressed the importance of maintaining updated records of all service providers and instructed officers to extend every possible assistance to stakeholders. He called upon the field staff to work in close coordination with all concerned agencies to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
Reiterating the commitment of the Labour Department towards the welfare and facilitation of service providers, the Labour Commissioner said that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a safe, organized and successful Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
The visit was attended by the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ganderbal, and other officers and officials of the Labour Department.

Akasa, SpiceJet Aircraft Involved In Minor Collision At Delhi Airport

New Delhi, April 16: A SpiceJet plane was taxxing at Delhi airport when it hit a stationary Akasa aircraft, resulting in a minor collision that resulted in damage to the two planes. No person was injured in the incident.
The right winglet of SpiceJet was damaged and the left-hand horizontal stabilizer of Akasa was hit.
FlightRadar24 playback indicates that the incident took place when the Spicejet aircraft from Leh was pulling into the gate, and Akasa Air’s aircraft was pushing back for Hyderabad.
“Preliminary information indicates that Akasa’s aircraft was stationary when another airline’s aircraft made contact with it. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked, and our ground teams are making alternative arrangements to fly our passengers to Hyderabad at the earliest,” Akasa airline said in a statement.
