Naya Kadam Helping Foundation today organized a Traffic Awareness and Helmet Distribution Programme at the Bypass Circular Road near Women’s Degree College, Pulwama, in collaboration with the Traffic Police. DYSP Traffic Mushtaq Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion and highlighted the importance of traffic discipline and helmet usage to ensure road safety.

The programme was led by President Naya Kadam Helping Foundation, Wahid Mohi-ud-Din, along with Vice President Suhaib Ayoub.

The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to Gateway Sports Industries for sponsoring the programme and supporting this important road safety initiative.

J&K Dragon Boat Team Felicitated for National Success

The Jammu & Kashmir Dragon Boat Association felicitated the medal-winning athletes of the 12th National Dragon Boat Championship in a special ceremony held at Srinagar. The function was attended by Legislator Tanvir Sadiq, office bearers of the Association, team officials, coaches & prominent sports lovers, who lauded the remarkable achievements of the J&K contingent.

A total of 30 athletes, including 22 girls & eight boys, were honoured for their exceptional performance that brought laurels to the Union Territory. The J&K team secured an impressive overall second position at the championship, winning a total of 30 medals comprising two gold, 10 silver and 18 bronze medals. The outstanding medal haul reflected the dedication, teamwork & hard work of the athletes & their support staff.

Congratulating the players & coaches, Tanvir Sadiq praised their discipline, perseverance & commitment to excellence. He reiterated that the Omar Abdullah-led government remains fully committed to promoting sports, nurturing young talent & strengthening sports infrastructure across Jammu & Kashmir.

J&K U.T. Kho-Kho Association to Hold Sub-Junior U/14 Selection Trials in Jammu

The Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Kho-Kho Association is going to conduct selection trials for Sub Junior (Under-14 years) Boys and Girls at the Green Play Field, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu on 13th and 14th January 2026. These trials aim to select deserving players who will represent J&K U.T. in the 35th Sub Junior National Kho-Kho Championship, scheduled to be held at Kurukshetra, Haryana.

The selection process will be based on a physical index system, calculated using the following parameters: Age (in years), Weight (in kilograms), and Height (in centimeters). Players securing an index score below 215 will be eligible to participate in the said championship.
Furthermore, a coaching camp for the selected players will be organized from 16th January 2026 to 29th January 2026 at the same venue.

All eligible players are advised to report on time along with the necessary documents.

Continuing its drive against the drug menace, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance along with a vehicle in the Narbal, Magam area.

A police party from Police Post Narbal established a checkpoint at Syed Mohallah Narbal, near Peer Masjid. During routine checking, a vehicle (Ertiga) bearing registration number JK05M-8910 was intercepted. The vehicle being driven by Showkat Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, resident of Wanigam, Pattan, Baramulla.

During the personal search of the driver, a charas-like substance weighing approximately 32 grams was recovered from his possession. He was arrested on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 02/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Magam, and further investigation is in progress.

Budgam Police reaffirm their commitment to eliminating drug abuse from society and urge the general public to share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking.

The Kashmir Photographers Association held a special meeting with professional photographers and videographers of Pulwama.

Pulwama: The Kashmir Photographers Association convened a special meeting yesterday in Pulwama, in which professional photographers associated with Pulwama district participated enthusiastically. The President of the Kashmir Photographers Association, Khurshid Ahmad, General Secretary Sajad Hussain Lankar, and the Association’s spokesperson, along with other office bearers, visited Pulwama district and also interacted with photographers associated with the Association in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
It is noteworthy that the professional photographers of Pulwama district welcomed the assurance that they would receive training in camera skills from experts through the Association’s training programs.
It is worth mentioning that on this occasion, Tauseef Ahmad Khan was appointed as the District President. The office bearers of the Association acknowledged his outstanding performance and congratulated him on assuming the post of District President. An honorary certificate was also presented to him on the spot by the Association officials.
Photographers associated with the Association expressed their satisfaction and happiness and stated that all future work would be carried out in a professional manner.

Public Safety Threat Averted as Pulwama Police Seize Illegal Fuel Consignment

`In a proactive action aimed at safeguarding public safety, Pulwama Police intercepted a load carrier vehicle at Litter on suspicion. During checking, the vehicle was found carrying six barrels of an inflammable substance, apparently petrol/diesel, which was being transported illegally without any valid authorization or permit. Given the highly hazardous nature of the material and the serious risk it posed to public safety, the police immediately seized the vehicle along with the barrels.

Accordingly, FIR No. 02/2026 under sections 303(2) and 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Litter, and investigation has been taken up. Efforts are underway to trace the source of the fuel, its intended destination, and to identify the involvement of other persons, if any.

Pulwama Police remains committed to ensuring public safety and taking strict legal action against activities that endanger life and property. The general public is urged to cooperate and report any suspicious or illegal activities to the nearest police station
